open carry

Hardline Crawlers - Rock Bouncer Builds, Tech & Off-Road Trail Talk

Help Support Hardline Crawlers:

Ive walked through the woods everday for the last 2 summers and never felt threatened by any wildlife. ****, I've had bears run the opposite direction of me as soon as they see me. I feel no reason to open carry, even in the woods. (It is nice to have a dog as an "alarm," then ya don't feel the need to have to watch your back all the time)

Its the not wildlife that you need worry about, its the people. Luckly with a little common sense, you can generally avoid them.

I guarantee you that will NOT happen in the case of a momma bear with cubs!

Maybe if you quit eating doughnuts and rubbing yourself with lard they'd leave you alone.:redneck:

Didn't want to hijack the Denny's thread for this.

My wife knows a cop, and he told her that if a business has a sign up stating "no guns allowed" that it has no authority, and you, the average joe can still carry in that establishment, even open carry.

.Is he correct?--Or, is he possibly confusing something his chief told him regarding his rights as a cop?

I have open carried on occasion, but don't think I would cause a scene in a business that
told me I was not welcome to do that there. Although I would still carry concealed.

The sign has authority to the specific building. This is true for ALL buildings, private and public. A privately owned building can be posted as a "firearms free area" this would include places like Starbucks, Safeway etc. Even if they DON'T have a sign, if they ask you to leave because of your carrying a firearm, you can be found guilty of criminal trespass if you refuse to comply.

Someone I know personally recently went through this when he made a late night trip to Safeway with his AR slung on his back. Store manager wigged out and called the cops to ask him to leave, instead of doing it himself. Chicken ****:haha:

Almost agree with this. A public building (gov run/owned) cannot tell law to disarm but a private citizen can disarm or leave. A private building/business can not have law disarm if present for official business but can have them leave if present for non duty purposes.

A public building manager cannot ask anyone to disarm unless it's a building where it's unlawful to be armed. Private can ask anyone to disarm or leave including police. That is unless they're in the process of an investigation.

Since the question being asked was in reference to private citizens, I responded accordingly.

I can't think of many places, if any, that regular joe is not supposed to carry, that a LEO cannot carry under the course of duty. And that list isn't very long anyhow.
