Mole killing...

I have had great success with the Victor out of sight mole traps. And ALOT of Lime!! Spread that **** on thick. It changes the ph of the soil, and helps break down the soil, so the bugs/worms go away.

Another little trick with the exhaust, is put in a grease fitting, and pump in some grease into the exhaust. BIL's old man does this, and no moles. And you can see the smoke coming out of the other holes. So, you know that **** is getting in there.

As for gas down the hole. Uncle did that with acetylene. He spent a **** load on redoing the yard. Since he was renting. He said he couldn't see for about 5 minutes from all the dirt and grass raining down.

And also, trapping moles in Washington is illegal.

Squeeze traps only, and not enforced. You can still buy squeeze traps at mclendons. Law went into place back in 2000, and even tho everyone demanded a mole trap exemption, the greenies pushed it thru without the exemption.

Legal to own, buy, sell. Illegal to use per the law. Only enforcement has been some politically driven business on business complaints. I've never heard of an individual being cited.

So its going slow. I am pretty sure I am killing some but I also think others are coming in behind the dead ones due to the tunnel system they have (areas I have redone have areas around them that I know have moles)..

So I am thinking of also doing these http://www.traplineproducts.com/onlinestore.html as mentioned so I can battle these fawkers at multiple spots.

I assume with any trap the hardest part is breaking into there tunnel.

My wife has pictures...the mole was HUGE compared to the pics I've seen. I've been using the poisoned worm method and that seems to be making a dent

Tomcat. It seemed like the most bang for the buck.

I use a 1/2" steel rod to find the tunnels between the mounds. I stick my finger down the rod hole to confirm I'm in the tunnel (I wear nitrile gloves to not leave scent behind and get poison on me fwiw) Then I drop the worm down the rod hole into the tunnel and fill the rod hole back in. I do this several times in an active area.

One part of my yard that was RAVAGED by moles this method stopped all activity in a matter of a couple days so I know it works. The worm method doesn't give the satisfaction of a dead mole in hand but it does save digging up your yard more. I can put a box of worms out pretty quick which is convenient.....If I'm going to dig it'll be on my jumps:redneck:

Ya I went with 6 to start with. Although the gas treatment has been working but the traps will be nice on the outer edge of the new pasture..

Now that the feral cat has disappeared I've been doing the same thing jeepmauler is doing with the poison worms except I've just been sticking them down active holes rather than locating tunnels. I have one active spot left now. I picked up a box of 10 at Lowes.

Next spring I'm calling up a feral cat place for a donation on the property. We'll miss the quail and "sort of" miss the bunnies, but not the moles, mice and rats.

I'm not looking forward to doing similar on the areas of the property covered in blackberries. I can't imagine what kind of hell has been going on under all that for the last 14 years.

So the only thing I am fighting with the traps is hiding my scent as they are going around the traps. I have used both plastic and latex gloves, dipping my hands in water and then rubbing them in dirt.

I also might be planting the traps with the front too high also so the mole can feel it with its nose and dig under it.

then i know that it is an active tunnel, and use a trap

Ya I aint going to lie--I was a little startled when I walked up to it and was ready to stab it if it moved,lol but it was dead..

I know now with how I set the traps up I can tell when ones been gotten.

I have string tied to the traps so the fawkers don't drag the trap down the hole. I then set a piece of wood over the hole and on the top side I have 2 screws to tie the traps 2 (2 traps per hole one in each direction). I have small cones I set on top of the piece of wood so when the fawker is caught they are a little pissed and move the wood that knocks the cone over..
