I'd like to revive the SNORT challenge at Reiter this summer. Got some Ideas and was wondering if there were any volunteers that would like to help put it on.

A bragging rights "competition" of two rig teams. Capped at 15 teams.

Anyone down to help out?

keep it small---when ya get big and the info gets around the next thing ya know the dnr is waving there no no no flag around..

We almost didn't do the last one.

I'm hearing ya.

Maybe 10 teams.

This wouldn't require many volunteers. Maybe 10 total as course marshalls and traffic control.

Lots of fun though.

I have set up similar races in the past and would love to give you a hand. I still have most of the course markers, safety equipment, and logistic stuff that I used.

From another thread.
It won't be anything official, just some people wheeling with time in mind. When I lived in NC me and 5 other rigs did a similar race in Uwharrie National Forest. All the coordination was done via the interweb, it's a run what you brung race.We met at the trailhead, walked the designated route, went over the previously discussed rules, pick names out of a hat for start positions, one rig on the course at a time, put on helmets and harnesses, 3,2,1 go!! No need to envolve the government, I know those people and any more organized than the above mentioned and the will want to be involved, so keep it small and simple. Just for fun.

Too late. You posted it on a public forum.

2017 Trail Ride/ Rock Race!!!!!!!!

Date-TBD
Someone from Washington pick a trail system.
Run what you brung, no classes.
Meet at the trail head at 9:00am or agreed upon time.
Walk the course and put out route markers.
Meet back up to pick names out of a hat for start position
Get rigs lined up in starting order
First rigs time starts when they cross the start line and ends when they cross it.
Next rig goes after the rig before them finishes or is moved off the course.
Fastest time wins.
IF YOU TURN OVER AND HAVE TO BE ASSISTED TO GET BACK UPRIGHT IT IS A DNF. IF YOU CAN GET BACK UPRIGHT ON YOUR OWN POWER YOU CAN CONTINUE TO RACE.
NO PENALTY FOR TOUCHING THE TAPE BUT IF YOU BREAK THE TAPE THERE WILL BE A 5 SECOND PENALTY. **STAY ON COURSE**
IF YOU INTENTIONALLY GO OFF COURSE IT WILL BE A DNF.
NO PENALTY FOR BACKUPS.
5 MPH RULE IN PIT AREAS. BE SAFE AND RESPECTFUL.

This is not official, authorized, sponsored, sanctioned, or certified event. This is a rough draft and open to changes and additions.

Questions-
Where?
When?
Number of laps?

Requirements-
Dedicated, capable recovery vehicle.

If you want to have it on a closed course, then consider the North Idaho Mud and Crawl location. Yeah, it's a days drive each way. But, you can basically have it as long, or short, or many laps, etc. as you want. Great venue. And pretty affordable, from what I've seen. Delray is a good guy.

If you want to have it on PUBLIC lands, then expect it to be open to average Joes, and you cannot simply close the access so you can race, unless you've got DNR on board.

So, you'll need to have it on a day that the normal Joes won't be there. So, best is Monday thru Thursday. Or at night.

Getting a permit is the only way to be able to keep a course closed for those who were used to how the stump jumpers used to do it back in the day.

The Admin here (that's you, Crash), can put up a truly 'closed' section, which is only open to selected members. Then, you truly can have a conversation without ears.

OR, you can create a Facebook group, with a closed status. It seems that a vast majority of my NWW friends are also my FB friends. Both are conversations without ears.

This area is not for public consumption and I know there are a number of folks who don't bookface..

But yes I can setup an area.

You have public and private..... This are is not public aka anybody who visits can see...

Private should = invite only for event participants.

Otherwise the wrong person will hear about it at the local watercooler and register to get the dirt on you.

Don't get me wrong the idea is spectacular you're just starting it on the wrong foot.

Doesn't matter if its public or private--bookface is like a germ with this kinda stuff. All it takes is one guy to say something to another and its like the game phone 100x compared to anything forums related.

All ya can do is organize something and hope for the best.

Too make it challenging, make its $2500 value rig challenge. Basically it would be something you get off CL for no more than $2500. Make it a real challenge. call it The Junker Run.

There ain't no rigs on CL that are worth a damn for $2500. The few that might be will just get jacked up in price.

As for the the "idea", I'd be down. Participating and/or Helping. Cheap, good old wheeln/racing fun is hard to come by anymore. The fear me stuff was fun... I even have a couple old VIDEO TAPES of one or two.

Craigslist beater, trail rig, ultra4 car, 33" tires, 40" tires or whatever you want. " Run what you Brung"

DNR would love to see a comp at Reiter and would support it 100%!!!! But you would have DNR rules to contend with... That being said the only real hurdle that I have seen is the insurance but if you can get that through what the Timber tamers you would have that covered? Not sure if you were making this a tamers event...
