So Its a new year--its a new opportunity.


I won't lie I have had a few offers to buy the domain along with the Forum--but I simply cannot sell what I have built. Heck I would rather see it go down in flames than sell.,.


So with that being said--what can we do to help stir use?


I am looking for other hosting options right now to help cut cost's on my end but again your guys donations help me greatly..

How mobile friendly is the forum meow? i tried it years ago and had trouble. I'm on very rarely now because i'm rarely on my computing machine.

Plus if I can find a way to cut my costs down on the hosting and get a few folks to donate and help with the site I am totally open to removing the whole star deal.

There are still lots of regulars that visit daily, but NONE post anything.

I don't have any suggestions other than the posting of pics.
Everybody loves pics. I used to post tons of pics. But then pics went away. Then I used photo hosting sites, but they are so SLOW and a PITA that I just quit with the pics.

Plus all the folks that ere fun to poke fun at went into hiding. No more drama. :rolleyes:

Plus the sport and the internet has changed.

I don't really have any good answers.


I really like forums for tech/builds and INFO. I hate social media for any kind of research or learning. If forums die,there will be a great deal of info resources lost.

It would be nice to find a way to stir usage again. Maybe I'm still stuck behind the times but I miss the old forum days and looked forward to reading the different boards I was on, but they have all gotten stale. Part of it is just natural progression, people move on to other things and don't have the time, part of it is just things have platotooed, same thing over and over, flame wars and not much new and exiting, so people drift away.

I think 'instant' social media as part of the problem, but not the whole problem. I don't see information being presented or preserved in the same way, but there is also a whole generation that that is the way they do things. And that is part of the problem, the 'new blood' to keep the forums going just isn't there because forums aren't their medium.

That said, what do you need to keep it up and running. Can you share you 'magnate' of costs and capacity requirements?

Different crowds are still old school.

The firearms crowds tend to have active boards as most of them despise facebook and tend to be more into the group instead of public.

The wood working/logging/sawmill boards are also very active as most users are old school and sit down at a screen and use the internet.

The "new age" of internet all revolves around a phone and the attention span is not long enough to check/read threads. Its only long enough to look at pics/comments and memes on a 3 inch screen.

GenX and older is winning a current poll on Pirate regarding age and forum use. It really comes down to the corruption of social media platforms that do not have a proper hierarchy for information like forums have.

I'm really missing all the great builds people used to post. The build threads always helped keep me motivated and enthusiastic about working on my junk. I don't know where the build threads are now but they aren't here and the Toyota section on pirate is all but dead as well. I posted four pages of pics last year and one person was interested enough to comment (thanks Crash).

This place has always been great for up to date info from the local trails. Id like to see that come back.

The best Idea I have to "stir use" is for the people still checking in to start posting.

$379. When we had a couple vendors it wasn't too hard to manage the costs. At this point it is getting harder.


I am currently working on trying to get the account downgraded to a lower level and that should help some.

$379 a year?

Sad part, in this economy, in this area.... that not much. Most people spend twice that on (1) rim for their lifted 2019 brodozer.
