First trip to Reiter
4:30 AM- Alarm goes off and I wake up go outside and load the truck up and take off around 5.
7:30 AM- Arrive at the main Reiter parking area. 2 1/2 hour drive went by pretty quick. There was only a few people around. Figured it was a little early and more people might show up soon.
9:00 AM- Nobody yet, talk to a couple guys leaving, said they were pretty much the only people left and they were leaving. We then decided to unload and just go explore. Talked to a couple more guys packing up and asked where we could find the trails and the rock. They said to just keep going up the hill. So we did we started out and went here
then we found the big rock wall, us being the only one out there we decide not to play on it. we then continued up the hill in search of anything and all we found was a dead end at the top of the hill. turned around and went all the way back down to the powerlines. followed those and came upon Sack-up and headed up that.
Didnt make the first couple tries here but then with a different line I did make it
and then on up to the end at top
Didnt know where elso to go so we turned around and went back down
Got back down to this spot and decided to play a bit
By now it is about 1:00 or so and now is where the fun startes. Ended up blowing a tranny line. Cleaned up the mess, and fixed the line. While under the truck we noticed that the transmission to tcase adapter was cracked and not mounted anymore. A good old ratchet strap went over that to hold it in.
After we got all that fixed figuted with the adapter broke we better just head out before some thing worse happens. In the middle of the 3pt turn to trun around one tire was strait and the lugs on the other one were popping off the leafspring, uh on something not right.
sheered off the 4 bolts indide the knuckle so off to town to find a knuckle. Got to the main parking lot and ended up meeting stealthrunner and toyolet who were just leaving. ended up following them home helping me out big time by supplying me with new knuckle, Thanks again guys.
Got back to the rig at about 3:30 and set up shop and got to work. pulled everything off, bottom bearing good, Top one bad. Rebuilt it best we could almost to new condition and got all back together with the new knuckle.
got it all back together for the quick trip back to the trailer... Wrong. Decided to check drivers side knuckle. and the front two studs were sheered off and other two were loose. Tightened the back two, and ratched strapped the front down and limped back, 2wd and winch, down to the truck around 8:30
The onto the trailer and hit the road and home around 11:30. All in all it was a fun day, when is wheeling and working on the truck not fun. And I will definatly be heading back one I do some minor repairs and get some 6stud knuckles and maybe with a group this time.
