The unlucky stars were shining on me monday night. I was heading west on I-90, and just after I came out of the mercer island tunnel my windsheild went dark and all I could hear were things hitting the truck that sounded like big hail balls. I started braking and threw the wipers into over drive. The window cleared and there wasn't anything in front of me. The cars I was driving behind were halfway accross the bridge. No one crashed behind me and I noticed a couple other cars were hit.

At this point I thought it was some dirt and rocks on the road or something so I called 911 to report some type of road hazard and continued home. Got home and looked at the truck (in the dark) it was really well splattered with what looked like mud. Tried to hose it off yesturday Turns out the mud is cement and doesn't want to come off. Yesturday I drove back to where it happened and noticed alot of road construction. Today I tried pressure washing it without much luck.

Anyone know how to remove cement from a vehicle?

Holy **** dude... Law suit time! Did it fall from above the tunnel or something?

no advice though.......but I'd start w/ contacting that fawking construction company/crew and raise some hell....:stirpot:
 
Yesturday I took some pictures. Hiked out to the top of the tunnel and took this one. Called the insurance compay today and I guess they will contact the construction company.

So how the hell did it get out into the freeway :confused:

I mean... In the air above the freeway...
 
they must be working above the tunnel and left out some concrete outside in the rain..

Jeezus that suck's how's your rad. is it plugged too??:corn:

No way of knowing. It might just be a fluke that there happens to be construction right at that spot. It was dark and by the time I cleared the windsheild I was past it and not really interested in stopping on the floating bridge. Didn't know there was construction until I went back yesturday.

THAT SUCKS!


call your insurance co. bill the governmental agency that is responcible for that project. that is damage not just dirt. my guestimated cost of fixing that up $1800-$2300.

I would think some kind of acid soak would do best. no rubbing, the sand will scratch. or you could blast evverything and get new windows and paint.

When I hiked out on top of the tunnel there was no sign of anything going on up there. The top of the tunnel is covered with undisturbed foliage. The top of the camper is clean so it was a direct forward hit.

That is an SDOT program. Before you go calling your insurance company, let me do some research in our database for a higher-up contact and email address for you.... It's much easier to notify management and have them pay for the damages then to deal with lawyers and higher insurance rates... brb...

I feel you pain :puke:

I drove from fairbanks to almost dead horse and they had just put down that calcuim stuff that keeps the dust on the road down... well it coated the front end, the rad, the wheel wells and the tail gate of the truck we were driving, that was a real ***** to scrap off. But it probably isn't as bad as what it will take to get your truck clean.:mad:
 
I removed the bull **** from the thread--if you guys want to push my buttons on thid drama crap---give it a try--you will loose--I am tired of it.


Cisco--that sucks and keep us up to date on what you do and how you go about it--might help somebody else...
 
with that much on your truck, there will be some on the road. find that and you will have the exact spot it happened. its possible it "flew" out of another vehicle or trailer.

He said the nearest cars were half way across the bridge...
 
I'm NOT the type to sue over frivolous crap but I think this one qualifies for a lawsuit! Sorry you were at the wrong place and time! That sucks!
 
You did call 911? I would try to find out if there is a police report and what it says....If you can pin it on the const work they will likely settle with you no prob.
 
Prosoco probably makes a product that'll work and maybe won't kill your clear coat or worse. Like maybe Safety Klean or the more caustic Detergent 600. I've only used their stuff on actual masonry, but I'm sure either of those would work better than straight muriatic acid or something.

Maybe try emailing them, too.
 
We had a similar thing happen here in Tillamook, when they widened hwy 101 north of town. They ground the concrete road base smooth, and didn't wash off the grindings and then the rainy season came in. Well, all the ground concrete got on all the cars and ruined aluminum polished wheels. The construction outfit was liable and took care of all the claims personally. The claims had to be turned in by a certain window of time, but it still cost them millions to right it all! Call your ins to see what they found and the construction company either will pay directly for it or their ins. will! It's that simple! In the mean time, get a body shop estimate on what it would take to put it all right!
 
The construction company will likely never turn this over to their insurace as the deductible is probably higher than the value of you truck.
