to yourself or someone wheelin with you, not your rig. post stories and pics if you got em. In honor of Chad at the cracks.
me? we were on a run in Washington where i used to live, about this time of year and were were planning about a 16 hour trip, turned into 22, but hey thats what makes it fun. no pics sorry but here goes.
it's about 10:30 at night and we had an hour of trail left IF we could keep movin, i went through a 2 foot deep puddle strewn with small logs and branches and i heard one snap so I was worried that i got a sidewall and when i came out all the tires still had air in them, so I kept movin, realizing that I bent something in teh steering since the steering wheel was way crooked, so i get out to look and yep, the draglink was bent, well let it be for now I could still move along. 30 seconds later a call comes over the CB that someone got stuck in one of the mudholes and blew a tire off the bead, so here'a my chance to try to do something about my draglink, since it was drastically impairing my ability to turn left. I had the winch hard wired inside the cab of the jeep so my then wife got in the driver seat and operated the switch, you know where this is goin huh? well i wrapped the cable around the axle and up to the draglinkg to pull it down to straighten and it worked, quite well, so wanted to get just one more pull and i was holding the cable tight so teh spool wouldn't get too messed up, no gloves and i told her "out" well you guessed it, she the wrong way and bein that it was an 8274, it was fast, sucked my finger into the fairlead, first reaction was to roll my finger out before it stopped and it came out, luckily all i lost was most of the skin off the inside of my index finger, a little snow to clean it off, an old rag and a few choice words and i was spoolin the cable in for the night. then the nurse of the group did some some sweet bandage work and we were done before they got the guys tire back on the bead.
no residual affects.
