    Rubber fender flairs.

    Get a roll of lawn edging, makes lots of flairs for when you rip them off on trees and such.

    22r Blow By

    My first toyota truck I had many moons ago had so much blow by that I had a rubber hose from the dipstick tube to a snapple bottle zip tied next to the radiator. Just pour it back in the crankcase and keep going.Lol let me know if you need a hand with anything. And I should have a spare engine...

    Balancing large tires?

    I used dyna beads on my 36" iroc bias ply, they are mounted on trail ready bead locks. They run smoother now then they did on non bead locked wheels with lead weights. Cost about $90. Bucks for all four.

    How long since you've wheeled?

    Haven't gone since late 2012, got a 4 runner for more room and started swapping crap over and still haven't finished. One of these years I will be back out there! Lol

    Tires

    I have the cooper stt tires on my gmc as well, and they do great on road, off road and in the snow, can't go wrong with the duratracs either. Not sure about your third option.

    scrap prices

    Last time I took steel in I got .08cents a pound that was about a month ago. That's in small town Wenatchee though I am sure it's higher for you guys on the coast.

    Yeah sounds like your on the right track. If that rear end has a half inch of backlash that's way too much. I would pull your third out and check it out I think you found your problem there and it's super easy to pull out too! If not that I would say u-joints but you said you already checked...

    Yeah the smoke is horrible. Driving home from work tonight I could not even see the other side of river while crossing the bridge.
