Hey all, ? for other techs........
Got a 1986 Jeep Tug here; It has the Nissan diesel, 727 trans, and a np196 AMI (?); is this thing a 2wd only t-case, meaning cannot get front output to engage? We've tried everything short of pulling it apart---I suspect the shift fork is not in there--but have never seen one of these....Any Tug Techs out there?

IIRC it is 2WD unit.
I've also seen early Bronco IIs with 2 WD and a T-case with no front output.

I believe it is a CJ10 right??

Does it look like this??

I believe they are 2wd only and locked in low range.

Yup, It looks like that, only beige....we took the weight out from under the bed---figured out that it is indeed only a 2wd unit.......it's the boss's rig, and he's already got a Dana300 to maybe adapt to the 727... I'd like the front beam axle out of it---weld up the knuckles and make it a trailer axle w/ disc brakes!!!:redneck:

I have seen one of those too. What was the deal with that? I have always wondered about it.

They were ordered by the postal service for delivery vehicles. still see some as right hand drive but most that I have seen were converted to left hand drive.

Pokey you're getting Oldtimer's.
Those rigs were used as tow rigs on airport runways.
A mail truck that is only in low range 2 wd...

So what does Todd have planned for this CJ10??

I don't think he's quite sure yet---latest talk is to convert it to 4x4 and send it to Friday Harbor so his dad can use it on the farm,---gets like 3x better mileage than anything else there....

If he has any questions on the nissan diesel have him check out the IH/Scout forums. They offered that engine as an option.

Im going to put rockwells, foxes, and links on one of these next month. same rig as in the pic. the deisel is coming out in favor of a bigblock chev, nv4500, d300, etc. Im going to put the nissan deisel in my old 42 chev army truck.:awesomework: let me know if you need any parts, we are olny using the cab and frame. all else is up for grabs.

reading comprehension classes are avail. at all community colleges :haha: I was talking about the B2s:rolleyes: :haha: but then again I did eat at dennys yesterday:cheer:

The Bronco II's could be had in just a 2wd configuration for the general public too. Neighbor has one....Rare and pointless....Could also get a 2wd cherokee.. The majority of them were probably RHD postal rigs like pokey said but you could buy one LHD for personal use. I don't recall ever seeing a BII as a postal rig though....mostly DJ's and cherokee's if not a standard mail truck.

Yeah, I'd appreciate it!! When you do take all this off let me know!!!:awesomework: You did say the front flares are coming off?:corn: ; And actually the bed comes off in about 10 minutes (6 bolts and some wiring); The weight under it(if yours has it) I could use as a counterweight for my tractor(boss is keepin the one here for his:booo: ) Anyhow, Let me know.....
