:eeek:.. Think I'm done for the day. Decided the truck needed some work so I'm just going to tear it down and start over. Just got the turbos off and will disconnect everything else from the motor tomorrow and drop the tranny and tcase. Then try and get the motor out Wednesday. I'm going to keep the small twins and use pretty much the same setup. Just re-route all the harnesses (I hate seeing them) re-locate the batteries, get a whole bunch of painting and powdercoating done. Have the turbos rebuilt and have Lenny modify the top one. Steering needs to be addressed and it needs bigger brakes. Time to make this thing a decent tow/haul rig. A 2wd crew cab is going to have to join the family once things pick back up. The quad cab just doesn't have enough space anymore.

Hey buddy call me if you need any help with anything. Also just an idea, if your pulling it maybe we should go throught it. It would be to your advantage to rebuild it while its out I dont think it would be that difficult either. Hey what are you driveing, the Jeep? Let me know if you end up with no wheels I can lend you a toyota if needed.

sweet, thanks for the offer! I have been wondering if I should rebuild it or not. I'll have to see how much the rebuild kit is and how the cylinder walls look. I know the pump needs some work.

nothing too serious. BD's towing twins, Lenny made me injectors somewhere between a 3 and a 4. An odd cut fuel plate a friend of mine came up with. Had a couple different delivery valves in there. Smoked way too much so they came out. I've had lots of different setups in the past and this seems to smoke the least and has the best response. But the pump needs some work, going to port the heads and have Lenny tweak the turbos.. Should be a whole lot better when done. Not really going after a lot of power. Just wanna stay in the 500 hp range and make it as useable and smooth as possible.

And Mike, lemme know when you start the swap in your truck!

Jeff I think with some better pistons and a camshaft, oring the block and a few other odds and ends it should work great with that new pump. I think I will be doing the same to the common rail engine here in the shop. We could work out a deal on my camshaft if needed sence its the same style you will need (bolt on gear). I think If things go right I will be getting one of fletchers cams and I dont really need a bolt on gear anyway because there isnt nearly the stress needed to turn a cp3 pump.

My buddy Mike R. told me he'd buy me a model airplane to occupy my time instead of tearing my motor out... oops.. too late :redneck:. Time for a pressure washer and some harness re-routing. And find out what's wrong with that damn PD box.. I have to tap on it in the right spot to get the trailer lights to work :haha:. And it hasn't been messed with since day one.

So when do you plan to have it done?

well...... seeing that I don't have a job at the moment.. this one might take me a while :haha:. It will be a slow rebuild. But it just shouldn't have been on the road anymore. Bad brakes, rearend making noise, tranny making noise. And I was embarrassed to even pop the hood.. I'll just take my time with this one. Clean it up as much as possible and use some decent parts.

You know...your brake master cylinder isn't suppose to be half empty :fawkdancesmiley:

yea, my fix for that last time was just new pads... that aint gunna cut it this time.. heh. Next up, larger rotors, new EGR calipers and rear disc conversion. :cheer:. For once I'll have rear brakes that actually work.

It will be sweet when your done though. Don't settle for anything but the best or short cut anything, you will have alot of pride when your done, cummins rock!!!!
