Heavy Hauling Anyone?

Kinda proud of the new investment. Spent a chunk on getting it all setup, but save 60% over buying a new trailor. We already had the truck, we just finished all the fab on the haul unit. I just thaught it was cool and figured alot of truck lovers would to. I had the truck turned up to 550hp and we can gross 185k. Can put 125 to 130k on the deck of the trailor. Here is a couple pics of it loaded and unloaded from hauling home from T town yesterday.

Oh BTW its 110 feet long :****:

That a live stinger or shim style? If you can gross 185, you only weigh~ 55k? I think our truck with dual'd pusher, no sleeper, double frame, 20K front, etc and 55 ton lowboy weighs 47k without the stinger. I would have guessed you over 55 with stinger and jeep. That's cool. What engine and trans? c15 or 16 and 18 speed? Our 03 KW with a C15 is a single turbo no emission truck with an 18 speed and day cab, it needs more power. Our 09 c15 with twins and smog with 18 speed will walk the dog. The twins are badass, the power is about 600 rpm lower and still pulls it on out.

Well if you know that much bout this stuff you know some of the weights are a guessing game. I have the AL Dot set up to come to our yard with scales to get exact weights with 3 different excavators we have. I think our truck and trailor set up is some where in the mid to high 50's like you said, but we will see for sure real soon I hope. I am nervous about permits untill I know for sure cuz it will suck balls to get parked with a paying load headed somewhere. The truck is underpowered imo. It is an ISX cummins with single turbo with particulate filter on the exhaust, 18 speed Eaton. We have some dumps with 475 Cat's with twins and they will eat the Cummins alive IMO. I drive them as a fill in, and the Pete always has a bigger load, but the Cat's seem to come out of the hole way quicker.

We have a cummins in a 10 wheeler and with 70k on it feels like crap until you're over 1500 rpm  The c15's in teh semi's and the twin dump truck to the cummins come on at like 1300, and the c15 with twins is LIT at just over 1000. Its stupid how that thing with twins feels. Even with the particulate filter, it is a monster. Funny thing is the 09 is the one that is on our 35 ton lowboy, and we take it everywhere. The 55 ton with stinger sits almost all the time until a crane or our 300HD Komatsu needs hauled. The more powerful truck has the smaller trailer laughing1
Either way, that 18 speed makes up for a lot if you have over 500 horse. That said, all I've ever grossed was 138k with the weaker 485 horse cat, and it was no dragster booyang

sharp truck always wanted to do some heavy haulin. here's the kw we got. c15, 10 spd, 475hp. we also got 2 379 pete sleeper trucks. same setup as kw pretty much and a 379 daycab.

Man those are good looking trucks. The trailor is a 50 ton. I have to go vet the specifics outs of my cheat book on the jeep and stingers,I can't remember them. It is shimmed, I would like to go wet with it. We need to pto the truck before we do any thing else. Shimming isn't bad, I learned some hard lessons on our first haul. Parked it with the front of the rig slight down hill from the rear and it made shimming for the crane tuff. The jeep and trailor are Trail King and the stingers where built by a local company called Liddell which is owned by a company in Texas now.

here is my new heavy hauler for the next year......the weights posted do not include the up-armored version. :driving: :driving:

The new M984A4 has a C15 cat and pulls great (a lot better then the A1 or A2) While deployed in 03-04 I had to haul the HET and trailer loaded with a M1A2 a few times. The old detroit did not like the hills but on flat ground it would outrun the rest of the loaded trucks

That Pete has its pusher up in ever photo. Why is that?
We ended up buying a new 5th wheel slide and have the trailer 3" off the back of the truck now so we can axle the pusher/drives and front better. As it was, by the time the pusher ended up with enough on it, the front axle was way under so you could never hit your gross without being over on a group. Now we can get near upper teens on the front (it is rated over 20k and has 445 super singles on it)

Just out of curiosity for someone who has no frame of reference, about how many ft/lbs will a big 500 hp engine like that put out?

J. J.

The 8V92s that are in the trucks I posted up earlier have around 12-1300 lbs/tq both of them run a single turbo stacked with a superchager....

The 18 speeds behind the cats have 3 ratings you can buy. without looking it up, I'm thinking its 1800, 2000 and 2200 ft/lbs. might be full of S on that but that was talking to a HEAVY hauler on the interstate getting coffee while we were enroute to Minnesota last year. He had a c16 with a 2200 ft/lb 18 speed.
