Yesterday the wife & I came across a 02 f250 and I've always Ben in love with them so we stopped and done a test drive & to sum it up I fell in love! It had alot of miles on it(270,000) but that didn't scare me as long as I got it cheap enough so after talking with the salesman we talked him down to $8000 its a 2002 ext cab 4door 4x4 the interior is in excellent condition. Condition. So you guys think I got a good deal or what? Will post pics of interior later

when i decided to buy a diesel i had 2 choices, ford 7.3 or dodge cummins....i ended up with the cummins but both are the best of the older diesels out there imo

You will love the 7.3L. Buy an extra CPS, and hi pressure oil pump o-ring and keep them in the tool box.. Those 2 things are the only real issues the 7.3 has. The 4R100 trans is a POS. I went through 3 of them in the span of 30k miles( under warranty). Put a built suncoast trans in, and never had anymore issues. I still regret to this day getting rid of mine.. If it had been a manual trans's truck, I probably would have never gotten rid of it( It had 280K on it when I got rid of it).

How do I know what trans is in it? & jus found out it will not go no faster than 95 it falls on its face had to rush my wife to the e.r so figured that was a good time to open it up..and what is a cps?

If it has an auto, it has a 4R100 in it...Everytime mine failed, it was the torque converter that failed and set off a chain reaction.. CPS = Crank position sensor

And it falls on its face at 95 b/c it has a top speed limiter.. A programmer will do away with that though

Ok appreciate that lol I feel dumb now lol & with 270k on it I don't think I need 2 push it that fast anymore but would like a chip, cold air intake & Exhaust on it tho

That should be a good truck. I also just purchased an 02 F-250. The good thing about the 02 models is that they have a D60 front and not and D50.
My truck has 250K on it. It is a cc4wd. I have a 6.0L aftercooler, cold air, 4" exhaust and a Tony Wildman 6 position chip. It gets about 17.5 mpg around town and got 16.0 or so mpg towing the my 5k lb Jeep, heavy trailer and a bed full of camping junk to Morris Mt. this past weekend. I can not complain one bit about the power with stock injectors.

I am very concerned about my trans. though. I installed bigger coolers and also run a deep derale pan with them fancy tubes through it to help cool. I ran about 170* max while towing this weekend. Looking to upgrade the converter soon!

I work on diesel engine for a living and like the 7.3 and 5.9 engines. I currently would not want a newer diesel offered by the big 3 due to restrictions on the engine to meet emissions.

you may think about unhooking the batteries for a bit to reset the tranny computer, mine is an early 03 with the 7.3 and I hated the way it shifted when I first got it and a guy suggested i reset the tranny and drive the piss out of it. Shifts great and very happy with it now. Just my .02
