My main money pit for nearly 15 years before offroad was autocross /Solo 2 / parking lot racing.

There's a Porsche Club autocross this Sunday at Dolly wood splash country and was thinkin of dustin the rust off a bit.

Anyone here got something that corners well? I haven't raced in a couple years.....oughta be some serious cone damage! :(:-\:-[

It's kinda boring to watch. ...but participating is a good rush.

I had a 2002 Z06 Vette with some soft Nittos on it that handled like it was on a rail in the canyon roads near where I live! Thing was fun as hell to drive! Just wasn't legal to drive it the way I wanted to :****:

Jus like offroad. ...tires are a huge factor. Some even call'em cheater tarz ;)

Yup got that right! They wore out fast, but damn they hugged the road. Think my buddy who owned it before me had put some aftermarket shocks on it too :dunno: Helluva lot of car! I'd like to have a plain C5 vette with an automatic. Cheaper and still fun cars. Things get badass fuel mileage too. Might get one for a work car one of these days :****:

That looks fun with my car.

Have an 11 mustang gt with the coyote 5.0, tuned, full exhaust, air intake, lowered, shocks, springs, rear lower control arms, upper wishbone, and rear track bar. I put Mish super sports on there and they do well.

Got my wife this :) kooks headers with 3" offroad x pipe will be here tomorrow :) then off to RPM in garner NC on Dec 8th for custom cam, fast 102 intake, nick williams 102 throttle body, and a nitrous works nitrous kit. Estimated to be 600rwhp :)

Just to add as well....those vettes can get beat by civics/miatas/junky commuter cars as well depending on driver ;)

Just like I got smoked at Little Talladega GP track, riding a 1000cc liter bike by a veteran track day rider on a tricked out Ninja 250 :****:

Always wanted to try it. I use to daily drive a '91 MR2, it wasn't the Turbo model but that thing could corner like nothing I've ever driven or ridden. Would love to have another one but Mid engine sports cars only have two seats and I got a family of three.

Tony...do you have a website for any autocross in our area? Im located in johnson city tn which is only bout 1.5hrs from knoxville. I know up at bristol tn dragway they had a autocross course set up you could play on when they did test and tune nights but dont think they set it up anymore

I did it for a year or so in a lowered mazda b2200. Its was fun. We built up a buddies vw golf gti. That was a blast to drive. Wish I had pics or video but that was back when digital cameras were new and expensive.

Re:

Had a brother in law into it with the SCCA here in Chattanooga I watched a few times but I was more into drifting at the time than grip driving. I still had a fun time though.

Raced a 96' v6 Camaro with a road racing suspension on it for a while. It was a blast but then I moved onto bikes. There was a turbo Miata that beat just about everyone on a regular basis. It was a ton of fun.

I use to Autocross the sh$t outta my FRC Corvette and man its a freakin blast. Its nice to be able to drive like you really want without having to worry about the damn pigs. Now that I leave in South Florida I'm fixing to get back into it again. With Sebring being 2 hours away and West Palm Beach Raceway being 1 hour away it makes perfect since to get back into it.

I did it once about 15-20 yrs ago. I thought it sucked balls. I was there most of the day and only drove 3 laps. Each lap taking about 1 minute. Not my idea of fun, but I was used to riding dirtibikes all day long where the fun didn't stop until the sun went down.

Re:

Yeah that's aorta the downfall of it that you don't get much seat time for how long you're there.

However it's kind of like four wheeling it's more fun to do when you have a few friends there that you can compete with.
