Redoing my cage on my rig is a yoda w/ 22REon pain duals w/4.7s and 37s and doing 4 link in the same time frame. I know most people use 1&1/2. .120 tube when doing smaller trucks for saving weight. My problem is I only have a 1&3/4 die for my pro tools bender and plan on using a couple of .188 wall pieces in certain areas. Do anyone think the 1&3/4 tube will add to much weight for motor s power or do you think it d be ok. I would be willing to swap dies so I could use someone else's 1&1/2 till I was done and them hold my die as collateral but what do the builds here think no go on 1&3/4 or it'd be ok. Thanks for any input

Your probably talking 25 lbs extra in the difference of the two. If that. That won't be any issue. If it's in cab however, you may wish for more room in that department. In cab cages in a yota are super tight.

That's my rig as it sits

Re: Re: Tubing size preference

Run the 1.75, it'll look better too, not thin looking.

Mines all 1.75 hrew and 30lbs over 1.50 hrew

I think all my tube is 1.5", but it's hard to beat that 1.75"! It looks much better. But it's also dependent on how much tubing you plan on using in your design. Mo's truck would look goofy with 1.5" because he doesn't have as much tubing in his cage as I do. But I think mine would look goofy if it was built with 1.75", it would almost look like way too much tube. So it all depends on your idea for cage design, in my opinion.

Re: Re: Tubing size preference

This was the basic design minus the roof bracing and misc engine bracing. For the weight of my rig 1.75 was chosen, since you only have an 1.75 die, use that.

I thought the size didn't matter it was how you use it ???

Well buddy she lied to you about tor little stecker molaugh you left the door wide open for that one :****:

But joking aside I plan on using a bit more than Mo just because all I have is a firewall and part of the original floor I've just had several people telling not to use it so I figured I'd ask if I could use sit down long enough and not get aggrevated at bend tech I'd show ya but can't put the image in my head to screen yet

1.75" gets my vote.

Yup cause my 1 inch die won't cut it but for my son's gocart I'm gonna build soon as I rebuild the 125cc motor for it it'll be on :dblthumb:

don't know if you have looked into a Ftoy chassis, but you are most of the way there .now...you could strip the truck you have and then use the all of the parts...mount the chassis to your frame and this will allow you to have buggy reasonably "CHEAP" i say that very loosely, if you were wanting to go that way with you build...just a thought.

I just don't like the f toy look and I own a bender so I can not justify buying a chassis when I got the tools to build one just gotta quit buying out her parts and get some tubing
