I've been wanting a actual good welder for a long time and I've been watching all these new mig/stick/tig welders that all the companies are coming out with. Now I can stick and mig weld half a$$ decent but have never gotten to use a good machine. I don't know the first dang thing about tig but would love to learn. I don't know hardly anything about what is good and bad but was wondering yalls opinions and best options for a first time buyer of a machine.

Machines like these

I have a Miller Multimatic 200 with tig kit and spool gun for aluminum. I love it. It is a very easy machine to use. I want to say mine with foot pedal and full tig setup, spool gun and a few consumables was around $26-2700 out the door. I may be wrong on that part...

This one here i have has been a damn good one.
Havent found anything yetbthat it won't handle.
ESAB multimaster 260

I bought one of these today mainly for the spool gun to weld aluminum so far it's shown me that I don't know much about welding aluminum LOL :****: but it seems like a good machine and I plan to learn to tig with it when I get time ! :dunno:

Note that a lot of 3 in 1 machines are DC units only meaning you can't weld almn. Or some other materials that people buy a tig for. Not all but most . Just know what you want before buying

It's not a 3 in 1, but I bought the Lincoln Square Wave 200 at the first of the year. It's an AC/DC stick/tig machine, but no wire. I wanted a portable aluminum option for the times I'm away from the shop. Very pleased with it sofar.

Think that's why they push the option of the spool gun, for Aluminum. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sure it varies among manufactures though.

I went to the local Lincoln dealer with a friend to look at a Power Mig 210 MP. I was impressed. He ended up buying it. It's a small, lightweight, 120/240.

I haven't used it, but he seems to like it. It was super affordable, around $1100.

Just bought one of these. Only played with flux core seems decent. I am not a welder so I would be curious to see what someone thought that knows what they are doing. I thought it might be nice to have in the trailer for emergency repairs back in the parking lot. I will give a review if I ever learn how to weld. Hahahha

Have one of these where I work. can't get it to start an even bead. What I mean by that is when you pull the trigger the wire goes pop pop pop pop and then usually goes to welding this happens about 8 out of 10 times

Wire speed too high?

set the wire speed too high, too low, and where the machine recommends no change. did the same with the voltage

I bought the Lincoln 210MP and I really like it. It's a good running machine. I've mostly been TIG welding with it but it runs mig pretty well also. I didn't buy the Lincoln TIG kit or foot pedal so everything I've been doing is so far is scratch start TIG. I suck at it but I'm getting better daily. Had a friend who is a a pipe welder by trade and he came over and ran it for a little while and he liked it and said it ran very well. I really wanted to learn how to TIG weld but didn't want to have a useless machine that I couldn't use for a few months until I became proficient. The 210MP fit the bill perfectly for me.
