I think it is a magnesium alloy. They look like the sun when on fire. Welding goggles is the only way to look at it.

I think on some of these rides, I could just leave the crawler at home, bring firewood, Conecuh sausage, and shine... And be as happy as I needed to be all weekend.

me too kinda. For three years, I spent back in a DD/weekend warrior rig on them 35's. Some may remember the GrayRock HL ride where I got stuck going DOWN hill... LOL!
But yeah, for the most part... I was juss booz-cruisin' and sometimes hauling the cameraman around...
