Transfer Cases?? PRO's and CON's (SCS, ATLAS, HERO)

I also enjoy my doubler. Th350 203/205.
But if/when I do it again I'll probably pass on the doubler. Too heavy and long.

Im with you. I love my doubler cents i all ready have it. I run a stock 5.0 c6 doubler and 5:13's with a 37. Its probly a bit deep in double low but i just run that in the really technical spots. If i was building my truck again id run a atlas also. I thank you lose less power thu less gears and the lighter set up and drivetrain lenght is a huge plus also. I was 19 when i built my truck. It looked like a hell of a ideal at the time. I wouldnt pull my doubler for a atlas. But ill never put togather another one.

There's a pretty significant difference in a "black box" type planetary -205 doubler and the ol 203/205 doubler. In weight, packaging, and gearing options

The "Titan or ORD Magnum boxes are super beef

Are there any good write ups or comparisons of these warlocks?

This a NWF Titan Blackbox in front of a Ford 205 that I built for my buggy project. The shaft in the Titan Blackbox is much larger than any 203/205 doubler and much lighter im sure. Notice the Titan 34 spline front output, they are huge and should make the 205 pretty bomb proof.

It's hard to keep up with witch company is good and which ones suck.
I just picked up a freshly built 203/205 doubler and having second thoughts to be honest I don't know if I will use double low.

Out of everything I would run a lowmax 205.
Then atlas or scs (with correct gears in axles and trans)

But with your rockwells do you really need anymore gear reduction? It looked like you had plenty the other weekend!

My 383 has no trouble with the doubler, 5.13's in axles and 42's. I only use double low on really slow stuff, otherwise low and lots of right foot does fine.

There's also the Lovell case if you can find one. I wouldn't run anything that doesn't have front dig ability. I drive all day in front only, and only engage the rear when I need to. Buggy drives day and night in front vs rear drive. For what it's worth, I've ran a stock Dana 300 in both my last rig and the one I'm building.

Also I got a call from Lomax a couple months ago asking if I was still interested in one, so they may have another run going.

I'm what you might call a " finesse " I like to be in complete control of my vehicle.
If your tires are spinning your losing traction. Yep that's me.

That's what I'm saying. But on the flip I don't want to be overworking the torque converter on a new automatic

I had a feeling an auto was coming...
I'm the least worried about traction at the moment with my rock hard tsl's. Maybe once I've got rubber that'll actually hook up I might try to crawl more stuff.

Does the titan replace the input shaft of the 205, making a continuous main shaft?

I didn't know anything about this black box, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a new transfer case and was going atlas, but this has me thinking hard. More gear options, and less money! Sounds like a win to me.

Does anyone know if the 2wd kit for the SCS case will allow the option for front dig?

Or does it only allow you to disconnect the front from the rear and ONLY allow you to be in REAR 2wd.

That may be the one thing that could sway the decision more than anything...don't really know....but if i am going to spend a lot of money on something like this I want to get what i want and know what to expect from the choice i have made.

If you can package the extra drivetrain length it seems like a solid choice.

If you're used to seeing Toyota duals (as I was) then a 205 doubler doesn't really seem that "big". Toy cases are long.

I was told that AA are like 6-8 weeks out on Atlas cases right now?

Has anyone ordered one in the last week or so?
4 speed is 6 weeks out. Can't say on 2 speeds.

Thanks Kel, I was gonna order a new one and put mine up for sale to offset the purchase but I guess I will order a new one and keep mine for mock up purposes for now.

Re:

Yes sir. The used one will disappear quick for good money. I'm just lucky I don't need mine quickly.

It took me 3 weeks to get my atlas. Apparently they have all the parts laying around but don't put them together until 2 weeks after you order it?
