What is building a buggy?

General Motors built the engine and Gilbert Designs did the skins other than that I built or rebuilt is all. Honestly for me it was not that tough of a task. The chassis work was the hardest part for me. The rest is just a bunch of pieces to a big puzzle. Brakes, cooling, electrical, steering etc. were all separate tasks to be completed is how I tried to approach it.
Tuning the shocks and engine (LS) are areas that I don't think I will ever finish but will keep trying to make better.
I try not to brag about what I did but I am very proud of it. I look at other offroad rig and onroad stuff as well and think damn I built my own car start to finish..cool.
What's built..who knows but a guy can be just as proud of putting on a lift and tires or building every piece by hand. Who is better is not my place to judge.

Advice for those looking to build. Avoid custom axles shaft lengths, for rear engines go drive by wire much easier. Wiring and plumbing on one side, driveshafts on the other.

Its alot of work, time and money if you really care about the quality and end result.

I've built buggys ground up, built guys bare chassis, and I've even finished buggys that guys have built the chassis themselves. I would say most guys would buy a chassis and finish it out themselves vs building the whole thing. I wouldn't think it would be worth buying a bunch of tools to bend one up if you only were going to do one. It seems most of my work is finishing peoples projects when they get burnt out, buggys, jeeps ect. It is a pretty big undertaking to build one completely from scratch if you have kids and a family that you want to spend time with
I don't think there's any shame in buying a chassis and finishing it yourself vs building the chassis also. There's still a ton of work to finish one. There's something to be said about getting out wheeling or sitting on jack stands for years

I'd just say "Why, yes I built this bad boy from the ground up. My name is Tim Cameron, you may have heard of me...."

I'd also have a sticker on it that said "Cooler than your uncle's yota on 35's" to refer them to when they start that side of their story.
