Just wanted to see if anyone with better D300 experience than I can explain to me why this D300 housing has a bolt that doesn't line up with either tail housing I have laying around. Thoughts?

I attached a photo of my case vs one i found for sale on ebay.

It may be an IH 300 out of a scout. They only put them in for the 1980 scout II's so it's a rare bird for sure if that is indeed what you have. I've got one from a scout I junked years ago back at home, I can check and see what the output looks like when I get back this weekend.

Ive heard of the IH housings but this on does not have that odd style transmission bolt pattern. Its the regular circular 6 bolt which makes me think its not an IH.

Possibly it's an 80 case with the short output? Never seen this though. But I also know some some hd outputs are for short and long output cases so maybe not.
I would contact novak or advance adapter and see if they have seen it before.

Appears that the hole your red arrow is pointing at in the stock photo has been filled and ground flush on your personal Dana 300 photo. Any closer and clearer pics of the area?

I thought that to be a possibility as well but feeling the spot where the stock hole should be from the inside makes me think there was never a hole there to begin with. It feels like the casting was never filled in and the hole on my personal case came that way. Odd
