4 seater leafsprung buggy

Been working on this the last couple weeks for my brother.

4.3tbi/t350/dual toys Toy diffs with welded 4.10's, 30spline longs,Arp hubstuds and arm bolts, 39.5" Iorks and BBC Shocks. I'm sure theres more I'm forgetting.

We've both had linked trucks in the past but decided to keep this simple and affordable. My bro also liked how well my ftoy did locally, at the hammers and in Moab.

Build must were Seating for 4, flatbelly and low budget.

that looks to be the width of the narrowest part of a toyota frame all the way through, am i correct? if so, how far did you inboard the rear springs.

its actually a bit wider than the narrowest point. Toy frames normally have the spring mounts outboard at the front of the frame. I made it so the frame rails sit on top of the springs in the front 32.5" outside to outside width. Thats why I had to notch in the steering box for tire clearance.

The spring width front and back is 29.5" on center If I remember correctly. Same as what's done on the formula toys. I'm guessing inboarded about 3" per side. I don't know what the stock rear spring width is.

nice. well i must say this is a very nice rig. it's like a formula toy, except you have made changes that improve upon the formula design. quality fabwork goin into it.

What grill you going to run? Looks good....

he bought some round hella style lights that will be going in there and we're thinking that we'll get a sheetmetal shop to punch out some kind of perforated grill. not sure if he's going to put a badge on it or not.

Thanks guys, its a fun project, not to complicated just straight forward fabbing. I think its going to do quite well as a trail rig/family hauler.

I'm finishing up the main fab work and then my brother is going to take it home to do all the little stuff and finishing the interior seat mounts etc.

I finished up my part of the project and sent it on its way to my brother's.

I'll post up pics as he sends them to me.

He's been working on a flat belly pan, 1/4" plate and some gussets. It will also be the mount for the tcases and transmission.

It will have Dom tubes welded through the frame for 1/2 bolts to hold it on.

nice one, when I saw it the first second, I thought, new fj cruiser look, you should try to make it look like one!
