    Toyota Starter

Found this! 1. jack up right side of truck and remove tire. 2. remove the back rubber mud shield (flap) on inside of fender well so you can access the area. 3. remove the upper portion of the transmission dipstick (1 bolt) and pull out. I put tape over hole to keep dirt out. 4. remove bolts...

    Toyota Starter

There is an access flap but there are brake lines in the way. It will not come out backwards without removing the entire rack and pinion steering arm. It is possible to pull all this stuff, but if I don't have I would be thrilled! I'm even fighting the tranny dipstick tube which does not...

    Toyota Starter

Alright, who the hell said it was easy pulling that damn starter? After 2 hours, I still don't have it out. I have it unbolted but there are so many damn things in the way that I can't get it out. I'm hoping I'm not trying the right way. The tranny dipstick, sway bar, rack and pinion and the...

    Toyota Starter

Just called Toyota and they have contacts in stock for $15, wifes picking them up as we speak. See, you guys made an impression on me!

    Toyota Starter

Ok Ok Ok, i'm just going through my options! I was just worried about it being 16 years old. I'm a Old School Jeep guy, when my Jeep starter goes out, I go buy a $40 replacement. That's why I'm asking!

How hard is it to pull one of these? It's an automatic.

    Toyota Starter

Thanks all, I'll look into these different options. I know I can throw a set of contacts in it, but it still worries me it might fail sooner then a whole new starter... Really don't need the call saying her car won't start. Come to find out she said it's been doing it for a few days, and now...

    Toyota Starter

Might try this, but it's the original starter. I'm sure it's tired, and it's the wifes DD, I really don't need a call saying she's stuck.

The starter in my wifes 96 4Runner is going out, Napa's website says $150-$300+. That just seems really expensive, is that the going rate? Thanks from a non-Toy guy.

    Square Tube Driveline

I have never felt or had any vibrations/problems with it. I'm pretty sure I installed it with the yokes straight but it's been in there a year and I can't remember without looking. Yes it is cheap, but with the $$$ some shops charge to build what I needed, this was the best route since, like me...

    Square Tube Driveline

That was quite a subject of debate when I first built it. I looked at numerous different drivelines and they were set up both ways. I can't remember which way I put it in now that I think of it, but your right, it's an easy fix!

    Square Tube Driveline

It goes clinkity clinkity clinkity...:redneck: Are you thinking the pinion bearing going out? My thoughts are that I don't run it enough to worry about it. Doesn't get very many miles a year.

    Square Tube Driveline

I put in on so it would drain. I suppose if you had a problem you could just pull it apart and hose out the center.

    Funny new sound

I've thought about this overnight and was wondering how the lifters get oil. I only pulled the right valve cover off because that's where the noise was coming from. I can only assume that both sides are not getting oil. I drove it probably 50 miles home and didn't have a problem so I'm thinking...

    Square Tube Driveline

I built this driveline a year ago and had really good luck with it. I thought I'd share how easy it was to build. The short version~ I used 2 1/2x2 1/2 receiver tube for the outside and 2" tube for the inside. I cut the yokes off my old driveline leaving plenty of the old tube. Then cut a...
