6th Annual Twin Lakes First Snow Run!

Wow. I knew the hippies were trouble but I didn't catch all of that. I stayed in my rig while Nissan turned around and the suburban was pulled out. Didn't realize what was taking so long.

    Auto Transmission Tech

I know Rory at rad designs. He has a decent Mechanical/switch operated shift for the AW4. I have built a tiptronic PLC based shifter with digital read out. The shifting is not the issue, mine operates just like rad designs. My tcc lockup also will also work like Rad Designs. I plan on taking a...

    Auto Transmission Tech

These are some of my thoughts that I have been going through for anyone interested. I'm working on this electronic shifter for the AW4. The shifting will work properly. I will also have a switch to energize the torque converter lock up solenoid. The goal is to be able to run through the gears...

    Auto Transmission Tech

Anybody around here know a decent amount about auto transmissions and modifications? Specifically the AW4 and possible valve body mods? Looking to modify the Converter Clutch Relay Valve so I can engine brake in every gear. Kris

    Late Model XJ, Coilovers, D44s, 37.5" KM2s

So I took apart my coilovers to add the bumpstops on the shafts and bleed the air I let in when adding the 90 degree fittings on the remote reservoirs. FOAs instructions and all other instructions I find say to set the internal floating piston at a depth of 8" then push in the seal head and...

    Late Model XJ, Coilovers, D44s, 37.5" KM2s

About 906lbs front corner effective sprung weight. I should also mention that I only have 1/4 tank of gas, no gear, no spare.

    Late Model XJ, Coilovers, D44s, 37.5" KM2s

So just checked and it seems my effective rear corner sprung weight is about 625lbs. Doesnt that seem lower then it should be? Its not loaded down with gear and still got a little tube work to do, but still...

    Late Model XJ, Coilovers, D44s, 37.5" KM2s

Got the rear coilovers mounted up. Picked up 4 90* fittings but went off the front threads for all 4 which are 1/2", the rear are 3/8". So I need to exchange those, put the bump stops on the shafts (which I think will be easier to remove the piston and valving to slide them on verse taking off...

    89 xj questions??

So I know this is really old but I dont know if he ever fixed his problems. The 231 and 242 t cases have a spring that actually slides the collar forward into the 2wd section of the gear set. So even though the shifter is all the way forward the spring doesn't have enough force to do the job...

    Ball joints or Heim joints?

Heims on my crossover steering setup last way longer then any TRE's and they feel way tighter. I also eliminated tie rod roll by going crossover. I only run ruffstuff heims and I run them on my front 3 link, pan hard, and steering. This was on my street legal trail rig. It saw just as much...

    cherokee ignition
