GM TBI Gurus in Washington State?

I can't really claim to be a TBI guru, but I've done a few conversions and some tuning. Give us some details on what you're working on and what troubles you're having. What year TBI are you using? Which ECM?

    A/C in an XJ

2000-ish XJ with the 4.0L. The shop kid at work blew up something on his A/C pump clutch and is looking for the cheapest way to get back on the road. Do the non-A/C rigs simply use a different belt that bypasses the A/C pump or is there an idler pulley in place of the pump?

    cheapy welder

I've had that same model Century welder for about 15 years now. It's a cheapo but has served me very well. Great for small jobs and auto body work. Only thing I've ever done to it is replace the tiny 16ga power cord with a 10ga, which made a huge difference in performance. As for that blue...

Help me build a parts list for Vortec 5.7 swap

What is the pressure on a stock YJ pump? I would think that adapting a GM in-tank pump to the YJ sending unit wouldn't be too tough. I don't recommend an external pump. I'm running an MSD external pump on my TPI setup and I'm not too happy with it. Noisy as hell and has crapped out on me a...

    Electric fuel pump for EFI

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-2225/ I'm running this pump on my CJ with a Chevy TPI. Not a lot of miles on it yet but it's working fine so far. The price isn't too bad.

    Looking at buying a JD2

So far, I haven't found anyone that can beat the prices on JD's website. They're all the same price as far as I can tell.

    Hey Crash, VSS question

That "Item List Summary" feature in TunerPro looks kinda handy. I never noticed it before until I saw your screen capture. I've always just dug through the lists on the left side. I ran my TBI setup for a couple years before I finally got around to installing a VSS. Only change I really...

    CJ wandering issue...

Why go with anything other than a Saginaw box? I don't know exactly which one will just 'bolt in'. A little time with your good friend Google should give an answer. Another thing I forgot to mention, the Saginaw boxes used two different types of hydraulic fittings. The earlier boxes were...

    CJ wandering issue...

There are different splines and shaft diameters available on the input to the box. Also, avoid any of the full size Chevy trucks since the boxes will either have the wrong mounting pattern ('88+) or be mounted on the outside of the frame ('87 & prior). Vans are bad too since the sector shaft...

    CJ wandering issue...

After I posted that, I saw a picture of the Jeep in another thread. Looks like front shackles. Also, with 4" springs I'd bet it has shims that improved the driveline angle but pushed the caster negative.

How much positive caster do you have? Any?

    Roll Cages

Yeah, you're probably right. I'm the same way, though. Everything part of my rig - from the fab work to the EFI - was done entirely by me. The thought of someone else working on it just doesn't seem right. I have a hard time even asking friends to help with it. I suppose I should just suck it up...

    Roll Cages

Good topic. The crappy cage in my CJ needs to be replaced very soon with something better designed to protect the rear seat. Can't decide if I should buy a JD2 and build it myself or just pay someone else to do it. By reading some of the prices on here so far, it sounds like it would be in the...

    Brake Woes

Most line locks don't suck. It's just the cheapo kind I have. Mine are a spring loaded deal where you apply the brakes and push in a knob to keep the pressure applied. Same principle as an electric lock but not as reliable. As for my brake problem, I'm still messing with it. It was getting...

    cheap bead lock's ???

Those don't look to bad but their "Disclaimer" page cracked me up. "3) Any and all refunds are at our discrepancy." Huh?:haha:
