Actually, yes. Yes I did. :D
As most suggested it was just spring noise. So, with a can of WD-40 I hosed the spring packs down and viola! no more noises. So, we will see if the noise comes back after some time.
Where you at on the rock? I was at work all day today. Might have a short work day tomorrow.
Hello Alan!
I too believe it is spring clunk. However, I would like to confirm this. I have TG springs up front. I am thinking about tearing my other pack of All-pro springs apart and mixing to...
Not always two clunks. Can be many or just one.
At any turn speed. Some times during a normal turn it's quiet. More often than not, it makes the clunk.
I have not felt it in the steering wheel only one in a while in the floor board.
It's the same from left to right.
Braking or accelerating...
Soooooooo....I went thru and found all my body mounts loose.....!
Tightened them up and guess what???
Nope. Still have noise. Lol. Also, because I've taken a few springs out of each pack I went ahead and made some Teflon blocks to fill in the gaps and keep some tension on the leafs...
Nope
That's kinda what I'm thinking now. I looked over the motor mounts but didn't put a wrench to them. I'll check the body mounts too. I did look over the tranny mounting and it's good
No. I've torqued them down with a four foot breaker bar.
Could it be possible that it's just the spring...
Well, I have no idea wtf to look for now. I redid and increased the torques on the wheel bearings and the knuckles. Checked the shackles for clearance and tightened. Tightened the steering box.
Driveshaft isn't even attached.
I'm gonna reseat the wheel bearings and check the knuckles and look over the shackles. I had to pull up on a berm tonight and as I came off the curb back to the street there was a LOT of racket.
Hmmm, ok I'll take a look at that too.
Would wheel bearings (loose preload?....I'd figured I would get other issues with this) or the knuckles make a clunk sound? Sometimes it's almost a bang! sound...it's hard to write out the descriptions....
