A 10.5 has more ground clearance than 14. The 10.5 has factory discs. The 14 is stronger.

Beat on the skid plate. It may "wake up" the pump. If you do decide to get a cell mount it out of the way. I suggest again the back seat if you don't plan on folding it flat. Another way is to mount it on the passengers side so that you can build tool/parts storage in the remaining space.

Only real reason for a fuel cell is if you are going to stretch the wheelbase. My XJ cane with a TJ cell with a "screw modded" XJ pump. No issues other than the humming is a little louder. I'd just put a skid plate on the stock tank, if you don't already have one. The stock ones are pretty tough

If it doesn't have them, t case & gas tank skids. You can get stock ones at the junk for about $30 each. They are pretty durable.

Did you replace the entire assembly or just the pump? The reason I ask is that the fuel pressure regulator is in the tank. Not really sure if it's in the pump or not. On my 98 I had to cycle the key 2 or 3 times to avoid a long crank. Did this for 4 years.

Back in '95 I bought a new GMC Sonoma X-cab. It had a fixed, solid back glass. I wanted to make the entire window go up & down, maybe even power actuated. Nuts right. I never did but wish I had. I noticed a few years later Toyota started making them.

I like the use of space with the lock box but do you think you'll be able to drag your rig over it if you REALLY need to?
