Thought I'd do a thread in case some other idiot wants to spend the $ and effort on a project like this.

Specs: 1986 F-150 fully restored 10 years ago
32's with 2.5" lift, 4:10 gears with detroit true trac rear
NP208
Removed DSS racing 331 small block
AOD built by PTC

Replacing with 2014 Coyote 5.0
6R80 Transmission
Atlas to 6r80 adapter worked perfect with NP208

Randy Welch at Welchco Hotrod Shop will be doing all the work
Fat Fender Garage complete install mounts and cross member
Fat fender custom 1 7/8" primary long tube headers, their radiator set up, KRC steering conversion, H pipe cooling connection from Fat Fender.
Will have all stainless exhaust, cut outs and Magnaflow. Also will have to build a custom cold air intake. Will be running a Willwood master cylinder.
Dakota Digital gauges
Pics so far, she is torn down, was waiting on parts until today.
Will be going ahead with some interior upgrades as well from TMR customs.

Anyone with experience with a good Coyote ECU tuner let me know who

Hands down best tuner(s) out there are Palm Beach Dyno. Rob Shoemaker most likely or the owner Ken Bjonnes.

If they can't 100% help/complete, they know someone who can.

Lund Racing, AED or Shrader Perf. are also well known and established. I went with Palm Beach Dyno / Rob S. for past 2 procharged cars mainly due to believing they are slightly better or more aggressive on their 6R80 tuning. Just an opinion.....

All remote tuned from them in Florida and me in Tenn. Rob and Ken are also accessible on Facebook if you choose, but not abuse.

Palm Beach was who I had planned on using

Can't go wrong....i'm a nobody in their game and they(Rob) has gone above and beyond what I paid for. Hell...he even diagnosed an electrical issue in the trans lead frame during a 3-4 shift. Replaced it and bam.....solid on the money shifts.

Clean and ready, stuck it in for a look. Having to cut some old brackets out off of the frame and then stick it back in to mock up the new mounts.

Man that is a sweet truck! My buddy has a '96 that we straight axled several years back. His would look good with a modern 5.0 in it.

Lots of frame notching, but it fits in it pretty good, literally will have to unbolt the motor and jack it up to swap an alternator if it goes out, but we are on the way now

So, lots of fab work for things to work out. Drivetrain is out again for final frame prep and weld out. Had to remove the front gas tank permanently, moved cross member back 3 inches. We will re install drivetrain to work out shifter linkage and wiring and stainless exhaust. It will all be removed again for paint. It's going better than expected. Goal is cruising the coast Orange Beach in the spring.

Update: It's being final welded and off to powder coat. Should be in the oven right after New Years. Fat Fender Garage parts have been a huge help to this build, quality stuff for sure. Randy Welch has really pushed this project through nicely, the inner fender wells and firewall will be slicked and painted, all ARP stainless fasteners, the intake will be a true cold air, Randy has a box designed that ties into the grill that will provide true outside air to the engine. Some pics ——
