1999 7.3 ford transmission temp?

It's likely there may well be an issue with it, or the sensor for it is bad...you take a temp gun to the trans pan/cooler hoses/etc. yet to compare readings?

I know nothing about transmissions, that

Where is the sensor for the gauge located? Pan, side of transmission, output/return line?

Depends whether it's an aftermarket guage or not, the brand of temp guage, the way they tap in to get their reading (cooler line, or pan mounted...); Lots of variables here...

Mine is on the drivers side of the trans, just above the pan. I have a 3-gauge pillar pod. Boost, EGT, trans temp.
