Purple lower and she said she can feel the grip dig into her hand between the thumb and forefinger. Will have to see if there is some kind of grip wrap.

Hogue. :awesomework: Theyre comfy, but I would be concerned with the extra rubber of the grip grabbing clothing or getting stuck when "SHTF" and it needs to see daylight...Plus it's a bit more bulky now if she has small pockets if thats where she carries it since women generally have smaller pockets. Something to consider.

Try hokey stick tape. I have been known to use it on my ar grips for rain or sweaty days. It will smooth out some edges too. I personally never have really cared what my guns look like if they work hard for me. My G19 has been stippled and ground down on the trigger guard to better fit my hands and add grip.

I have never really thought of a sup compact as a viable secondary, I think they more fall into the tertiary category but for women its a little different. My sister in law has the LCP and it has similar down falls. The grip is short and the radius of the beaver tail and the centerline of bore measurment is large. Ideally you want your hand to be as high on the tang as you can get it to help control muzzle flip and the dig into your hand. Glocks have a very high tang grip due to their design. The M&P line is also nice, and the 1911 is still the most used chassis in comps today.
 
i say 1911 because it has proven to be stupidly reliable no matter what you do to it. the p220 is nice but does not have the reputation or ease of concealment the 1911 does. im 6' 280 and the 1911 being slim conceals very easy where a lot of double stacks do not. i have large hands and most of the double stacks do not fit my hands like the 1911 does. you asked for an opinion and got one, i dont use 9mm for the same reason i dont use 5.56 seen and heard too many cases where they just dont work good enough.. this is also why i dont run straight hollow points in my 1911, if somebody is trying to run me down in a car a hollow point will not go through the windshield with as good of a trajectory as a fmj. theres my beliefs if you dont agree i dont care he asked for opinions.
 
I have a Glock 19 and Sig P938. The Glock is real fun to shoot, find that I'm fairly accurate with it. I personally think it's too big for a daily carry piece.

That's why I got the Sig. Nice piece, very compact. 7 rounds with the extended clip, 8 if you count one being chambered. A big more expensive though. Waiting on my Crossbread minituck to arrive...

Get a .45? I really, really, really like H&K USP.45's. I'm sure the 9 is pretty damn cool too, you know, if you're into that sort of thing....:cheer:

Time is not my friend and how I see it you can adapt to any gun and simply shooting one still does not fully resolve if its "the one". To me learning input from others and reading the ins/outs of them will teach me more than anything.

So there is a new gun shop in sultan and he has a bunch of 9mm stuff and I spent a while holding/looking at them. The glock 19 is certainly a good size and fits my hand nicely. He had a bunch of different variations in the compact size and I wish I could remember what they were (bunch that were not mentioned here).

You sure can tell between a metal/plastic lowers though by the weight.

But I recall the Glock 19, Rugar SR9, Sig SP2022 (wish I wrote them down).
 
I see what your saying about learning from other people, but it's like listening to the old guy in a stock cj on 33s saying he can run every trail at Elbe. It's hard taking in what's good information and what's crap, I know Tacoma has a couple places were you can shoot just about every pistol that has been listed in this thread.

Tomorrow I will see what I can find on some of the pistols that have been listed. I know your already looking at reviews but look at all you can and start watching YouTube, also look at prices on all different forms and in other states.


I know Gen 4 glock 19 with night sights run about $550 out the door in the Tacoma area
 
just holding them isnt enough. need to shoot them. i love the feel of a 1911, but the grip angle is wrong for me. they dont " point" ie: if i look at some thing close my eyes and fire at it, im way off, glocks and xdm's point well for me and instinctively are on target. yes, i can train my self thru muscle memory to adjust for it.... but its not as natural...

im the opposite, the 1911 was the easiest to be on with out of all my guns.
 
The best gun of all is the one that you have with you when you need it, at that point theory and which is better don't even count.
 
the problem i have with glocks is they are a brick, i could not conceal one as well as i could my 1911. crash if you want to try a 1911 mine is up for use if you buy the ammo, dont count .45 out because the recoil my 1911 has as much recoil as my wife p226.

And I will say I will definitely be going with something with a tupperware lower--all the metal lowers that I held were just too heavy.
 
the 1911 is not light by any means but remember the lighter it is the more recoil thats felt (general rule of thumb there are exceptions). to me looks dont matter, i know if i have to use my 1911 its going to go BANG and exactly where i point it everytime i pull the trigger. there is a reason the design is mostly unchanged since the early 1900s.

I understand what you are saying but to carry such a heavy protection device that hopefully is never used--I would rather carry something with more recoil thats more comfortable to carry....
