Another lil something.....

This belongs to matt (did a bunch of work on his old TJ) and has been sitting untouched for far too long. Its a BNS chassis.

Has LS1/TH400/Atlas with 60's. Besides needing wiring there is a bunch of small stuff that needs to be addressed but all the big stuff is in place. Matt is a super cool guy and looking forward to getting this done so he can get out and have fun with it..

So I spent a couple hours going thru the boxes of stuff to see whats there and whats not.

Still evaluating the rig and probably going to take an area at a time. This is the first issue I saw. The res tank is mounted to the chassis with a 90 degree fitting to the pump--thats not going to last long..

So the hose looks to be 1/2" so I will need to order some -8 fittings. Now since its p/s do I need to use special hose? All the kits I have used I always used the hose that came with it.

When I worked parts we sold regular fuel line and what we called H hose. It was all Weatherhead but the H was rated for oils. Any hose shops hold have it if the local parts house doesnt.

Napa can make you any sort of high pressure hose you need. That's where we used to get a lot of our hydraulic lines made when I was driving for JL

Isn't the reservoir side low pressure? Seems trans cooler line should work.

Ok so looking at using some Aeroquip fittings with AQP sockless hose

That's what I like about it, great parts, very well packaged & just such a solid piece.

I would skin around it in 16 gauge steel with removable/accessible panels so no part of the cell or fittings/lines/filler were exposed.

Unfortunately thing gauge steel isn't going to protect it from what I fear. Its kinda in the hit zone--from rolling over of laying on its back. Something thin tin won't protect it from.

That's what I thought you were looking at as was I.
It would help with a framework of 3/4" tube.
I also look at that & see how much it would help to move all fittings & lines to the front wall of the cell. That would be more work but also be alot safer than on top.
A guy could also make a custom cell to the rig, that would be the best option.

So still stumbling thru whats what and whats next. There is no list just what I find and carry onward and forward.

So I got the from brace installed (goes between shock towers and down to the motor skid plate) and got the maf and found the air filter. Well its right up against the winch. Ya thats not going to work.

So I ended up spacing the maf back 1/4" (there is a brace that goes from the maf to the x-brace) and had to trim the inlet hose. Got a better amount of room from the winch now. I ended up redoing it again (pic not shown) and now have 1/2".

So the p/s cooler was just draped in front of the motor with no sort of mounts in any of the stuff I had. I could either order the howe polly mounts(looks like the same type used on reservoirs for a coilover) or a weld on style. I went ahead and made some mounts that would stand the cooler off the front crossbar on the chassis.

Got it welded in and painted. The hoses from the orbital and the res tank are crimped and both the 90's are turned wrong and too long. I will be using field fittings at the end.

So while I am waiting for hose/fittings to show its time to look at the fuel cell. It was kinda sitting in place. The straps that are there to hold it down--well they don't quite make it to where that need to be..

So pulled it all out and cut the straps off the tank hold down assy..
