Any Sig owners?

I carry a LCP in the "urban" areas and LCR .357 while hiking, dirtbiking, wheeling, etc. A coworker bought an LCR .357 for his wife to carry (she is the size of the girl in the video below) You can practice with .38spl at the range and use .357 for when the poo hits the rotating blades of an air mover. I also have a friend who is 6'-4" and carries a P22 daily. It does depend on your comfort level bigtime as Karl said before.

Please don't buy from DGS, overpriced. Look at Lowpriceguns.com, they're located in bellevue a couple blocks from Wade's. I bought my P22 from them. :awesomework:

I agree with the general idea of .380 over .22, simply for the fact that you can get some pretty damn small .380's and it's got some more "poop" than a 22. Take a course for sure, especially if you're not comfortable with all the little details. Then go to a range that will rent you a couple different guns and see where it goes.

You want something you are wholly comfortable with... comfortable shooting it, comfortable packing it, comfortable with how to operate all the parts, comfortable with all its safety features. Once you make your pick, take it somewhere outside of a range and practice with it on your own terms until you're comfortable.

Having said that, I have a Beretta Tomcat in .32ACP. It's TINY and fits perfect in my back pocket or in a small IWB holster in the small of my back. I believe it can be bought in both .32 and .380, I just happened to stumble across mine at a friend's pawn shop and ended up with a great deal.

I have shot the Mosquito a few times, I liked the feel of the Walther P22 better, we actually bought the wife one to go plinking with and occasionally carry.
As others have said, go shoot some guns to see what is best for you, originally Crystal was looking at for a small .380 or LC9 to carry, we went and shot the LC9 and whatever the .380 version is (LCP?) she didnt care for either of them, but loved the XD9 sub-compact and bought that. Its a little bigger so it was easier for her to control.
I also believe a smaller caliber on target is better than a bigger caliber missing its mark.

x2. Get what feels comfortable in your hand and what is comfortable to shoot "boom" wise and then practice practice practice.

It's more for self defense yes. I take walks with my daughter and sometimes I just don't feel safe her and I alone.

I guess I'm just curious more then anything at this point. I've seen you all talk about them over the years and I'm totally clueless.

Then a 22 is not the right gun. Flat out will not stop a tweeker on drugs unless you take out a organ. In fact your more likly to just piss them off. Get a small frame 380 or 9mill with some good hollowpoints that will stop someone in their tracks.

So we went looking at guns today. I had her start by holding some and the Mosquito was actually too big and heavy for her even though it was a .22

So I think we are going to next try a .380. I had her hold a few and the one that fit her good was the Bersa Thunder.

The weight was perfect and she could pull the slide back.

So next we are going to take a trip to the range and rent a couple to see how she likes how they actually fire...

She really liked a smaller .038 but the grip was too small and she should not be able to hold onto it after firing--or at least I would suspect so..

I have read a little on that gun and found some good reviews...

Check out the new Ruger SR22. Alot of people say they like it way better than the walther and it comes with 2 grips, a small and big one. Nice little pistol and some models come with a laser on the front also.

My buddies sister shoots his 9mm and she is 11 yrs old, I think if you went and shot with a .380 you would be surprised how easy they are to handle! :awesomework:

Have you thought about a 9mm. When I bought my Glock I also purchased a Kel Tec pf-9. Its a great pocket pistol. I bought it for taking my dogs on walks. Very easy to conceal.

My everyday carry is the kel-tec p-11 9mm. light weight and has always worked flawlessly (sp)

So the wife shot my .22 revolver and my sisters .22 semi auto. She liked them and certainly could handle what they gave as in recoil--so time to move up to bigger..

Try the compact glocks also small guns but they pack some punch!!!! 40 S&W and 9mm.. i think they Glock 26 and 28's!!!! :awesomework: and you can get higher capacity clips for them!!!!:D

Ruger LCR in .357. She doesnt have to shoot .357, but she always has the option to. 5 shots of .38spl. I'm a revolver fan, keep it stupid simple. Pull the trigger, it goes boom...:D
