It seems somebody has been trying to get into users accounts since last night/up to almost 25 so far.

Get Spybot and Malwarebytes. Both programs are free and work great. I do a monthly scan on my system with both and they keep it cleaned up.

Malwarebytes has found exactly nothing on my systems and it never has. I wonder if it really works.

I have a guy in Colorado that has hacked into my computer via an email that I opened. I paid $30 for a Spybot program and he is still in my harddrive.

I need one that actually works.

sounds like nw-wheelers needs to up their security. this is an internal problem of a mass ip break in. a major ip address of this website has been compromised and they are doing a password breaker to try to break in and get personal info. good thing there is not much here but there is still something. yes i work in IT

If you think that you have picked up a virus somewhere the best thing you can do is a system restore, roll back to prior to the infection. Every time windows installs a patch it saves your system configuration, you might have to re-install a few programs and your patches but it will clean out whatever happened to your PC.

Nothing has been compromised per the forum and the only thing they can get is anything in pm's or a email addy--thats if they do and that can be done on any forum/website.

I highly doubt they are using any kind of "password" breaker but its some kid screwing around.

Yah just probably brute forcing the login. But its important to remember to do the updates Mike, 3.8.8 is out for vBulletin, and by the looks of it 3.x branch is going to become unsupported soon.

Time to update to phpBB ;-)

PhpBB base structure sucks for any kind of in depth modifications. Plus I have spent the last many years learning VBB..

I am not too worrried as I have some server side stuff my partner has to give added protection..
