Around the sound jeep club

Anyone on here part of the around the sound jeep club ? If you were part of the newbie run to tahuya you should be ashamed of yourselves for pulling that ford off the trail so you could get by and leaving them broken and alone in the dark without offering help. POS club :flipoff:

A couple rigs that were in our group gut absorbed in the pack of jeeps and then got helped through the "new" south loop trail until it got dark and one of our friends got a flat on the trail. The group just winched him off the trail onto a stump so they could get on with their trip. Lucky that they had cell service to call for help so we could bring them a jack to get them back on the road. It took us about an hour plus to find them in the dark and rain. Not a single one of the club offered up a helping hand.

On the hangover run doug(oneshot) headed down torwards the end of the road--I was having alternator problems and the snow was nasty with chris in his open diff rig. Doug is well equiped and a good driver but I was still nervous about leaving him out there to venture onward..

Even I have been left broken on the shoestring--that was rough.

the old school 4x4 clubs would NEVER abandon some one on the trail like that.... unless you were acting like a drunken ass

So, explain to me the part about someone out "wheeling alone". Isnt that one of the cardinal sins on its own? Never wheel solo? Just for this reason?

Not knowing the whole story, sounds like equal fault at this point.

Went back and re-read...ok, so started out with his own group, got sucked into another group for awhile, and then broke. I still dont see how this is the fault of the other group. Where was his initial group at? did they continue on without him and not realize he was broke and alone until end of day? No CBs? No occasional rest areas for people to catch up and regroup? Did the broke guy tell the other group to keep going assuming that his own group would be back for him?

his group lost sight and left him or didn't keep track of him, and the over taking group left him on his own.

I have also had a couple less than stellar meet ups with this group at Walker...Almost all JK's built by wallet, and not a one was very kind---I was in the Sami, and crossed paths on the Easy Valley connector...One had the odasity to say "Shoulda got a Jeep" or something of that nature...I stopped instantly, and got out... but the OTSJC rig did not; Whatever...They are also pushing to pave the trails at Walker because "They are too difficult to get through" was a quote from a DNR meeting not too long ago. :rolleyes:
There was another incident involving the Sami at Walker---Needless to say they did not follow me on the hard line going up the Ridge Ram Trail prior to the entrance change...:haha:

Yeah, I tagged along with the Hombres when they were showing them around Sadie Creek and they were basically saying they wanted to pave the trails there too. I kept hearing that the trail was too hard and too tight for them. Nick and I were in 2wd pretty much the entire day (we also were the only Toyota's go figure) because it was the easiest trail we had ever been on. We could have ran the entire trail in about 20 minutes, but it took us a good 4-5 hours instead because we kept getting held up at every corner because they didn't want to scuff their paint on the shrubs. :rolleyes:

I attended a club meeting of theirs in hopes of talking them into joining the pnw so they could adopt a trail system that was/is in need of a host club.

They wanted to open the trail up because it was to narrow, and their biggest agenda item in the meeting was getting enough turn out for a parade to brake a world record.

They are a joke, I laugh when I see their stickers around.

Not all but the majority of JK owners have this approach to "their idea" of what wheelin should be. Run into these like minded people all the time at Tahuya. They want to be called wheelers, but want the trails wide enough so they don't get a single scratch on their paint. Stay on the logging roads, with your snoody ass attitude ya wannabe wheelers. Cant stand the fawkers, got me a Jeep now so I am entitled to these trails too right??:looser::flipoff:

This is a "new" club and their learning their way of the sport. Their a different lot that's for sure but some of them are allright (like any other club or group) and some just don't really "get it". WE as a group need to help educate newbs not eat our own young there's enough other groups doing that. As far as what happened at Tahuya is sounds like there's plenty of fault to go around How does one just get absorbed into another group :eeek: Couldn't he just pull off and get back with his own group:eeek: Why did his own group leave him as well :eeek: and yea the club could/ should have helped him but maybe they figured his own group was close by:eeek: Did the guy with the broken rig ask for help or did he do as most of us would and say "don't worry we got this handled" :eeek: Like I said plenty of blame to go around

WOW that sounds a lot like the fullsize axle rigs argument with the existing narrow "jeep" trails :haha:

I do have to laugh, that after all these years, its a "Jeep" club that is wanting the trails WIDEND. For decades its been the "Jeep" guys *****ing about how everything bigger than a CJ5 is ruining "their" trails.

Yea and we need to stop that from happening. That's why we need to be organized and active and ready to educate them as to why things are the way they are. "build your rig to fit the trail" This is a hugeeee club based off of internet wheelers on a "meet up site" its a whole different kind of group than were used to (good friends with long relationships) most of their runs are a meet and greet type of thing where some of them have never even met. Education remains the key here and getting more "new" wheelers interested in the sport is a good thing.
