ATT jeep guys AMC 20 welding

whats going to break if I weld it........I'm going to buy some 1 piece axles but I want a cheap locker......I have welded lots of toyota thirds but this is my first jeep........thanks for all the input

AMC model 20s are reasonably strong axle. The normal weak points are the axle tubes, which tend to spin in the housing and the axle shafts, which are a two piece shaft held together with a crush-nut on the end. I've welded a 20 and it held just fine. But while you're at it, add some weld to the tubes where they press into the center housing to keep it from spinning.

X2 on what Treeclimber said, add a truss and it's stronger than any D44 out there
