Hardline Crawlers - Rock Bouncer Builds, Tech & Off-Road Trail Talk

Help Support Hardline Crawlers:

You could post some pics Clark.. Its not like you are busy anymore or anything!

The best i can do is tell you about it, i have no pictures to post.

I have made very little progress in the last year, i got tired of making excuses why i wasn't working on it. Long story short, I have trouble dedicating the time needed to get it done, and wheel it, and have a house, a life, and a family left afterwards.

I sold my plasma table, and some other tools and i'm going to move out of my shop, back home.

I enlisted the services of Dean, at Bent Metal Customs to finish the build so I can wheel this summer, instead of make excuses why i'm so lame. It was a tough choice doing this much myself and then asking someone to finish it, but looking at my work pace, it was the clear choice. That or sell it.

When I go down and check it out, I'll snap a couple pics and post them up. I'm going to be wheeling this thing come spring time.

My goal is to get some seat time, work out the bugs, dial it in, and have fun wheeling. No more epic dream buggy builds after this. The internet makes it look quick, easy, and cheap to build these things. It's not any of those.

Well put sir,

I know exactly what you mean and am living with a rebuild right now cause I didnt know what I was doing the first time I spent $X and 18 months on it.

I cant wait to see it done and you in the drivers seat beatin' it... the buggy I mean. :D

Hope to see ya out on the trails Buddy!!!!mines getting done to!!:awesomework::beer:

Glad to hear the buggy is getting done atleast. Not like the high school days with VW's is it? :redneck:

What else from the shop you selling Clark? You gonna offload your bender?

Nothing else is for sale! Just needed to downsize.

Way easier to work on these things than deal with freaking volkswagens.

Long overdue update....... Got it back from Dean, he welded up the rest of the chassis, plumbed it, wired it, and tied up some other loose ends.

I need to clean up the wiring under the dash, tank vent, breathers, rad overflow, engine skid, skins, and whatever else ends up on the punch list.

I'm hoping to shake down sometime this week, and wheel Naches this weekend. Is anyone else headed up there?

Here's some pics and videos.:awesomework:

Looks good Clark :awesomework: bet it felt great to finaly drive it :cheer:

SEATBELT

Glad the build is almost over. Ironically i sold my buggy to the guy in az who sold his rig to ben/spurred this rig on.

So how was the heat coming off the engine/trans with no cover?

Really glad to see you get her running.:cheer:

Looks nice Clark. Im happy for you man. Take lots and lots of pics of everything little cool detail of the finished product cause it will never look this good again.

Thanks for the compliments!

Hip, i haven't gotten it hot enough yet to get the full effect of the heat through the floor. I did order some DEI heat shield to stick on the bottom of the floor panels, that should help alot. No matter what i think it will be warm, i will know more after i get it out for a shake down.

I have a couple more loose ends to tie up, skins, engine skid, a couple tabs i need to weld on for some UHMW boat sides i made, rad overflow, fuel cell vent, filters for my breathers, rear view mirror, and check the accesory belt/accessories again.

Then i need a spot for my cooler, tools, and fluids.

Last is grease everything up and do a nut/bolt check.

I'm sure there's more, but that should get me out and home again.:D

Heck yes it will Buddy!! sounds like you will be doing breakin runs about the same time as me.....My work days are friday to Sunday...if ya want to do some breakin runs after next week let me know!!!!:awesomework::beer:

We need to be ready for the first run up north!!!! soon!!!! Passport/ enhanced Drivers licence...I'm good on that but need more insurance for the trip!!!!!:redneck::beer:

After an intense week of work, no sleep, and lots of swearing............. I got it out for a shakedown run. I met up Bill (Boosted) and we cruised out to Naches to partake in the PNWJeep meet n greet. Did i mention the PNW Jeep guys are a great group to hang/wheel with?

We ran trails from quartz creek to the rocks and back, a full fund day of wheeling. Besides fixing a couple leaks, there is no breakage, and no damage to report. My expectations for the performance of this rig have been exceeded and now i need to work on my driving abilities to take full advantage of the beast. I could not be more happy with how things turned out, that's the most fun i've had in a long time

The only picture i've got, I was too busy having fun to take any when we were wheeling. Did i mention it was dusty?
