Well I have a tj and I wanna put a d44 and ford 9 under it. The axles would be from a a 78-79 bronco or 76-79 f-150(which ever years have disk brakes). I know that these dana 44's came with a radius arm style suspension with either cast or welded wedges. So my question is..... Can cast wedges be cut off as easy as welded wedges or should I look for a welded wedge dana 44 only? School me on bronco/f-150 dana 44's please!!!!

i have a 79 bronco 44 in my tj and it had the cast wedges. the axle was retubed. i believe the trucks had the welded wedges and the broncos had the cast wedges. the welded ones would be mcuh easier to remove.

78-79 Big broncos are HP D44 with cast wedges. Do not want if you plan to ditch the radius arms.
76-77 F150 Came with disk brakes and weld on wedges. The earlier D44s 71-75 have welded wedges but come with drums.

All early bronco D44s have weld on wedges and are a few inches narrower than a full size, obviously.

Gear's marked 42/11....doesn't make sense, as that would be 3.818181 (3.82???), 43/11 would be 3.91, 41/11 would be 3.73, 39/11 would be 3.54545, etc...
