When I called ptc and ordered my converter ed asked me what kind of power I was making. I told him 400ish and his answer was "you mean you don't have a 600 horse motor like everybody else with a camshaft and custom tune"

HP = Torque x RPM divided by 5252
super cool LS engine make 500 ft-lb of torque at 5000 rpm. 525 x 5000 = 2625000. 2625000 divided by 5252 = 499 HP
old ass 7.3 diesel makes 525 ft lb of torque at 2100 rpm 525 x 2100 = 1102500. 1102500 divided by 5252 = 209 HP
snap on die grinder makes 25 ft lbs of torque at 25000rpm 25x25000 = 625000. 625000 divided by 5252 = 119 hp

HP is a calculation. :stir:

5252 is the Constant of the calculation.

One Horsepower is defined as 33,000 lb-ft / minute. The circumference of a one-foot circle is 6.2832 feet. Since these are both constants, you can divide 33,000 by 6.2832 to get 5252, reducing the equation to a very simple approximation.

Does anyone else want to commit suicide when this Dave Z character starts telling you all about the 1400hp bouncers coming to the line? I had no delusions about being a bouncer, but I did think overall it was a good thing for our sport/hobby/lifestyle. I used to watch anyone's live feed I could find just to help get me through the workday since I work most weekends. Now I would rather stare at a wall than listen to Dave tell me about the ever increasing hp numbers. :****:

The srrs live feeds would be a million times better if someone would just mute his dam mic and leave it that way. Timmies buggy has made anywhere from 1100 to 1500 according to Dave...and that was during the same race :

I'm not sure How much horsepower is Too much horsepower in this sport, but being unlimited with no restrictions is pretty damn cool in my opinion. The newest build out of the Burkey Racing corral should ought to touch the 2000 hp mark and has the rest of the drivetrain being built to take it. Will it blow out tires, YES, is it too much power for the courses, Probably, is it badass, YES. You got the money, let them balls hang low. ME, my pockets are deep, but I have short arms. Rock on fellas....
