chevy 4speed question

Ok i havea 85 chevy 1/2 ton with a 465 and a 208 i think. i wanna know if a 465 out of a 1 ton will bolt up to a 208.

i only ask because i have found a lot of 465 mated to 205s for sale and i need to replace my trans in my chevy. thanks for the help.

you can use them if you swap the output shafts on the 465. the 205 uses a short 10 or 12 spl. the 208 a long 28 spl. i could be wrong on the spline #'s i have a low mile 465 with the 208 out put shaft if you want to buy one.

The 208 should be either 27 spline or 32 spline.

Why are you keeping the 208 isnt that the all time 4-wheel drive t-case.

208 is a part time chain drive case. The Chev one is weak with a tiny chain and small drive gear bearings. The Ford one is double the beefiness.
