Chevy plug gap

I read this on a GMC/Chev truck forum. Just wondering if it could help my tired 95 tbi 454 or is this guy wacko. Im not looking for more power just smoother running. Anyone else set their TBi motor plug gaps larger than .035

the only time that worked for me is when the ignition system has been upgraded...so that it can actually bridge the gap...if it cant it makes a huge miss in the motor under load...
