Woman killed by cannonball in Potrero
EAST COUNTY â€" Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 33-year-old woman who was killed when a cannon fired by her husband sent a cannonball into her Potrero home early Tuesday.
Authorities were called to the home in the Twin Lakes Resort mobile home park on Potrero Valley Road north of Campo Road about 12:15 a.m., Cal Fire Capt. Mike Mohler said.
When they arrived they found the woman dead from injuries she suffered after the projectile slammed into her home, Mohler said.
Investigators talked to two men who said that they had been working on the cannon when it went off, Mohler said.
One of the men was injured in the blast and taken to a hospital for treatment, the captain said.
Sheriff’s detectives are handling the investigation. The name of the woman has not been released.
