should they really be worried about 4x4's and run off that effects the salmon when these floods have way more effects than a 4x4 can ever do?...hmm

According to Al Gore it's the emissions from the 4x4's that have caused global warming which causes a wetter climate.

You're right. Since nature fawks itself up all the time, I should be allowed to build a full scale volcano in my back yard and erupt that ***** whenever I want

Well, we cant argue with you on that!!:hi:

It's all political crap, like I've stated before, I've done more resource damage with a skidder, while logging, in a month than everyone on this site will do with their 4x4's in their lifetime :redneck:

Are you counting the branches and bark stripped from those resources in the course of harvesting them for sale as "resource damage"?

Its all about the tree's mike its a cash crop. They can go in a distroy everything in the area to cut down the tree's and thats ok but if you rub up againts one your going to jail and they will close the whole area to 4x4s.

is there a brain in your head or are you always stuck on stupid?..what kind of analogy is that? when a volcano erupts it has an effect that is far worse than humans can ever create..bar none except for maybe a meteor.:looser: :haha:

OK, so maybe a small volcano :flipoff:

You're suggesting that because damage occurs naturally, we should be free to cause even more damage. On its face, that's dumb. You specifically targeted runoff and salmon, so it sounds like you think it's just fine to drive around in muddy streams. If that's what you're suggesting, then I absolutely disagree.

Meteors arnt controled by man:eeek: but I bet a well place nuke could do a lot more damage than a volcano:booo:

isn't that why the trails get closed down?...what I'm saying is that what we do is so minute that even the DNR can agree that floods create way more damage that we (4x4ers) can do in a lifetime, that being said, they need their jobs so nothing will change.

And what I'm saying is that isn't any kind of justification for anything.

We are humans.

We control nature.

Us.

Nobody else.

We OWN mother nature, she works for us now.

And forest fires don't put CO2 into the air either, only full size SUV's do. Damn SUV owners making the weather unpredictable. :flipoff:

DNR is not worried about the salmon--they are worried what fish and wildlife will do to the DNR if salman habbitat is in danger. DNR is only covering there ass's..

And as mark stated--- its about the $$$ Trees=cash crop...

Yup, no different from using a farmer's land by permission to hunt, driving over a bunch of his corn crop, and then getting pissed when he won't let you come back. Aside from the public/private aspect of course.

Exactly. The DNR exists primarily to manage state-owned land for profit to support public expenses (primarily schools). And they have to play by all the same rules when it comes to fish habitat as anyone else.

WDFW holds the cards and trust me they're not the most lenient people when it comes to wading through their policies.

We're literally in the middle of negotiating a remediation plan for a simple culvert replacement project. Technically (and legally), a fish-bearing stream starts at the downstream end of the existing culvert. The culvert is rusted out and is failing. We replaced it. No harm, no foul right? WDFW wants us to set aside a remediation area and replant native vegetation upstream because we "extended the life expectancy of a constructed drainage system." Apparently someone pulled this rule out of their ass because it doesn't exist anywhere on paper and there is absolutely no precedent over the several hundred similar projects we've done in the past 20 years. But nevertheless, the project is on hold waiting for permit approval because someone decided to make it more difficult than it ought to be.

Forest fires are "damaging" as well, but they are a necessary evil. Necessary nutrients are created by forest fires.....for a new forest to grow.

Flooding is not necessarily the issue, landslides and erosion are. I can't say nature needs flooding, but is it a necessary evil.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

These are complicated issues, with complicated resolutions.......if ever resolved.

Since forest fires are beneficial, I am going to go torch a small section of Reiter. Wish me luck :D

good luck :corn: oh and post pics and we will do a fund raiser to put money on your books :haha:

you are right Crash,,DNR is not the problem it is WDFW...we just got out of a meeting with them and was great to get to know them better...they are on our side....now about the Fish and Wildlife people..who knows?

oh and Kim and Ron are some good people!
