I'm guessing this has been discussed ad nauseam, but ran a search and couldn't find much.

Guessing you guys are harder on components than anyone. In your opinions, are machined hubs OK to run? I can buy a used pair of srw for $250 or new for $500. Better just to buy???

Ive machines a set to srw not completly sure but i think cole ran machined hubs on his buggy for awhile all ur doin is cutting outer flange

Yep, can easily do that but since that flange face is more "fluted", I was worried that might be a weak point.

I ran Cole's old machined hubs on my old rig and the new owner still is running em. No issues I have ever seen out of the machined ones so far. Now that I have seen how to do it I wouldnt really hesitate to turn some down on the lathe next time I build a rig if i came across a DRW axle at the right price.

Yeah, would have looked for a srw first but this one came up free for helping one of my customers out. Can't beat that price.
