I had the bulb style thermostat and the DAMN thing broke off at the radiator so I need something to replace it. I'd like to get one that took a signal off the stock temp sensor or one that I could put a sensor into the engine with.

So I am looking for suggestions & ideas. This is for the TJ with the 5.2L V-8.

Okay now,

You've peaked my curiousity.

I've got a toggle-switch-controlled-auxilary electric pusher cooling fan. And I'm curious how to do this too.

My issues with the painless wiring stuff is that normal temp is 210 degrees & I think the stock thermostat is opening at 190 degrees.

Here is what I have found so far.

I like the Dakota Digital one other than the price. The one from Perma-Cool is nice too. I need to figure out what will work on my engine before I order anything.

Get the fan switch system from spal. 2 different on/off temp senders and the wiring/relay are top notch quality.

Put it on a switch..turn it on or have the ignition turn it on...simple is more reliable...which shuold be getting pretty obvious by this time :flipoff:

Don't need the fan running all the time. So simple might work but not in this case.

The best part is when you forget to turn it on. And blow yer junk up. My elec rad fan is the only thing i have a stat for. Once again the spal kit is mega bitchen.

Here, arrow down..Looks like they have a newer, tricker switch too

Hi Rick, If you have a extra 1/2inch [I think 1/2] port in the head or in the intake you can go to a big truck store[peterbuilt= kenworth] and they should have sensors for fans on them to turn on the fan. they range in temps so you should be able to get what you want. I bought a switch for my jeep and it was a 190 or 195, You can get almost any temp you need. I think they also can get smaller ones for a 3/8. I know in Yakima Kenworth or Pete should be able to help. Kenworth 509-452-8564, Pete 509-453-3700 ask for Regan. Good to here the jeeps getting close, How close is it. See you thursday.

I hate to point out the obvious...but it is simple...which is why mine works and you are still looking for a solution to your problem with this thread.

...but to each his own and you seem to like complicated

Well I see NO point in my fan running all the time so I guess I like complicated. I found the solution to my problem. I have NEVER liked the fin bulb type thermostat sensors and was a little disappointed when I got my Jeep back from the shop to find it had one in it. It broke and I am replacing it with something WAY better. Maybe not simple to you but AGAIN I see no reason to have my fan running all the time.
