No matter how I try to get to the story...it shows me nothing about it...
 
In the comments someone posted an hour ago that they found "them", said they heard it on the news?
 
Weird how they found the kid but not the dad. Anyone hear know where he flipped his truck?
 
i was on pirate4x4 and saw a blurp to a news link that said they found them both, dad is dead in his truck and kid is critically injured and flown to the hospital. no other details.

very sad.:booo:
 
I mentioned snow wheeling to my boss and he tokens about this.

I be curius where it happened. They mention rain in the article, but I have a feeling it was driver error, not the rain.

Either way, it's sad, and I hope the family is doing ok.
 
Heck the roads up there are worse than any of the trails when conditions are poor, be it rain or snow because speed is a big factor(loosing control).
 
That is very sad. Just read it. I read all the comments also. Did Evans creek get cell service. Last time I was up there. It was around 1999/2000 there wasn't any. The keep saying why did he text and not call. I know you can sometimes get a text out when you don't have enough service to get out.
 
I will get some more information tonight at the meeting. I was in the White river office (FS) yesterday around noon and Ian didnt say anything so it must have been later in the day:booo:

Cell phone coverage at Evans is spotty at best but there is coverage in some areas.
 
This sucks. Sad to here. It was a ruff night up here in BL with all the wind. I still have no power. Can only imagine what it was like up there basically alone. Sounds like the kid was takin to the hospital for hypothermia.

There are a few areas that you can call from but most of the area is a no go for cell use. Some areas you can get a text out but a call is out of the ? for most of the area. Depending on his phone a text may have been all he could get. Plus from the sound of the story he was not able to move from the truck as he was found in it.

This is a sad deal. I cant even think about what it was like sitting next to your child in the cold and not being able to do anything or even know if you or him will make it. Being a father that would be the hardest part.

This is another reason why you never go out with out another rig. Two+ at all times even if you only plan on drivin the roads. You never know when things will take a turn for the worst.:booo:

I agree. That road is up there is more dangerous than the trails. It doesn't matter if it's rain, snow, or dry weather (dusty as ****). That road is crazy. If he crashed on that road, I bet it was on the one corner just after you come out of the woods coming down. It's really wash board and turns left. You damn near bounce off the road and down the hill. If you don't know that road it can get you real quick.


I feel for this kid. He watched his dad die. How much more messed up can that get?
 
They're still trying to figure out why it took 10 hours to get a response from the person he text messaged..

This may not be a big deal. Maybe they were doing something where they didn't read the text right then. I know if one of my friends went wheeling to Evans and texted me "I rolled my rig" I would wonder why you're telling me this? Sounds like a typical day of wheeling to me.
Unfortunately this wasn't a typical case.
 
They made it sound like he was asking for help.. Who knows though, I'm sure the guy is feeling pretty bad right now, even if he couldn't help it.

I had a text like that a few weekends ago. He was bragging not complaining.
 
from what i've heard, and this is third hand, he was in a superduty trying to come down the upper 311:wtf: like i said though it is third hand news so i dont know how much it has been stretched out:rolleyes:
 
Chris said they are going up there tomorrow to try to winch it out, Mark said it was an 02 powerstroke off 311B
