evans creek work party

I was up there for the weekend for my first time and thought the trails where fairly easy minus the deep snow (sami on 31's) but I like the place and would definatly go agin. I don't think they need to "pave" the place but can't let it go and get torn up. I would say they could definatly do some work on the actual roads but no one talks about that. If people need harder trails would they let us build more trails? From what I herd Maureen want to get us more respect and there fore say in what gose on but I don't think she has much pull but she definatly can't hurt.
 
i understand you have to do what higher says but i was there and no one asked what should we do about the trails all that was said was go and do what this person says

We need more folks to get involved with the process...attend a focus meeting, attend a club meeting, attend a WOW meeting, get involved with WOHVA, write a letter to the FS and politely explain your ideas/concerns, attend a work party...the key is getting involved in the long term process.

Showing up to a work party & telling everyone that they are doing it wrong is probably not the best time to inject input & expect immediate results.

the master plan is to turn that into a 2 lane road where one lane is for street legal and the other is for off road vehicles.

This is partially correct...the street legal/off road portion of the road will be from the new campground entrance up to the current day park area. The part of the road from the bottom 311 to the new campground entrance will be 100% street legal only.

No matter what the FS plan is I will be happy to help out anytime help is needed.

How are you actively planning on helping out? Are you dependant on the local organizations, associations, clubs to keep reminding you of opportunites to get involved...or are you aggressively looking for ways to contribute?

Not trying to pick on you, but I see lots of folks say they are willing to help out & then only a few actually show up when it is time for action.
 
im not going to lie i say that im going to show up to these meetings but i never do, but maybe you or someone can tell us about these meetings and were there at. i work from 8 to 8 but i need to not use that as a excuse anymore
 
Not all parks are going to be for all type of rigs!

So Evans Creek will be open 6 months a year to vehicles with 35" and under tires, fully street legal and under 80" wide? sounds like a good plan.

I modified your statement...I think that every park should offer a little something for folks that use the area. Maybe some areas specialize in a certain type of experience...like how Rimrock is known for tight trees, off camber & open ridge trails.

There are several ways to get involved...do you have a specific area that you want to get involved with? Or are you looking for info on all areas local to us?

If this happens, it's a direct result of people not getting involved... The FS/DNR listen to the people that show up to meetings and help at the work parties... If the people that want Evans to be more like Elbe showed up in numbers and gave a **** things would be going in a different direction... This is my personal opinion...

Corey, I'm not pointing a finger at you... I'm very aware of how much you do and appreciate your dedication to our sport...

I, myself, am guilty of not stepping up out at Evans... I've spent my time focusing on Elbe... I'm the only one I can blame for what ever happens at Evans that I'm not OK with...
 
So Bobby and I took a drive up to evans today to see what was done from the work party and I have to admit the road on the way up was smoother then usual and some grading was done but right as we pulled into the orv park we seen HWY 311 the first thought in my mind was "when are they going to add gaurd rails and speed limit signs" did you guys add the lines thru the whole trail? looks great good job:awesomework:

Would have been nice if the idiots that had time for the striping had made the time to come to the work party and do something productive instead.

Must have been county workers Jim.Looks alot like the roads out here. They just showed up late.Probably took a long time to get the striper trucks up there.
 
Those pics really do make it look ALOT like a road. And just so I know. When is the work party to grade the rest of the trail?
 
All joking aside...... This is kinda funny as someone besides all of us web wheelers think that was a hwy. It looks so good Ill bet some of the hikers think its a short cut to the lake and get stuck in the trail.

And then after they trash the trail cause they have no F'n idea what they are doin (like many who can now get in the trail) we can point fingers at them as to why we have gate keepers.:haha:
