• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Forest Fire at Walker, Closed till OCT 15th (from press release)...

Scott....my bike muffler doesn't have a screen over the end but says "USFS approved spark arrestor" (or something to that effect) on the side. What do you think?

I wish my bike wasn't broken:mad:

If its got the stamp then I see no reason to hassle ya.....

Take a piece of dowel and insert it into the muffler. If you find an obstruction (dowel only goes a short ways in) it is accepted. If you can get the dowel thru the muffler and into the pipe (where the muffler attaches) then no go. The ticket cost the same as a spark arrestor approved muffler. Some mufflers have been modified by others even though they are stamped USFS Approved.

Just attaching a screen over the end is a no go.

The exit nozzle of my muffler has a little kink to it so sticking a rod down it was going to be a pain......but you can look into it ,with a flash light ,and clearly see some spiral baffels a couple inchs in. They would stop a dowel of any size.

Thanks for the info:beer:
