Fuel cell venting

Stupid question time: you run you vent line and some fuel splashes up into the vent line. If the line goes down and then back up or has a dip in it, the fuel will sit in the low spot and block the vent line until it has enough positive or negative pressure to push/suck fuel.
I had a bad smell coming from tank, ended up being a couple of oz of fuel that had been sitting in the low spot.

Side note what diameter hose?
A very narrow hose should work just as good, I would think. :dunno:

If you add one of those clear plastic parts store fuel filters to your vent it will cut down on the fume smell.

Bringing this back. I'm putting a fuel cell in my rig. I watched burkey's two videos on vent line routing and the theory changes between videos. Thoughts? Ideas?

On both do the drawn examples below it will go down behind the tank and rollover valve below the floor board.

Both are fine.
If you do the wrap around the cell, make sure the loops on each side are past the fuel cell walls.

Too small of diameter hose and you will starve the pump. As pump "pulls" the fuel, you have to replace it with air fast enough to not create a vacuum. Most use the same diameter hose for the fuel pump and the vent
