Hardline Crawlers - Rock Bouncer Builds, Tech & Off-Road Trail Talk

Help Support Hardline Crawlers:

Not sure.. Broke on the way to the rocks Friday night but I am sure it had some twist from last weekend.. Need to upgrade to 300m/40 spline stuff.. Spool in rear.. Think that should help..:awesomework:

I would like to see some video of you doing the sort of thing that makes 35 spline shafts whimper. Purdy please?

You broke?

2009 Steve Peterson and I flew out to meet Joey Archuleta with Hazardous Concepts. Decided we needed to make some drastic changes for my driving style to keep the rig together. We do not believe in the "drive the rig to its ability" LOL.. Thats for pussies that have subpar rigs. You can build rigs to take the abuse. Thats why our truck weighs about 1000lbs more then most. 4200Lbs ... With that said our truck came to us from Joey a little taller and a littler longer to fit bigger people.

I thought you couldn't break. Don't tell us you've got a subpar ***** rig?

:eeek::haha::eeek:

On a more serious note. You don't need 300m shafts. Nobody needs 300m shafts. Just drive it. Don't overdrive it. Learn the rig. The more you learn, the less important it is to have the best equipment. You'll learn to keep things together and still drive hard.

Thanks for the advice.. Its my truck and I can drive it however I see fit.. If I break parts and never finish KOH is my problem.. On that note yea Joe you have to get invited to attend the KOH and maybe I will not get in.. Not the end of the world.. If they don't want me there then thats that..

All the videos on youtube of me driving are what breaks shafts.. So what chromo shafts are the 35 spline guys out there running? Mine are randy's and I have broken two fronts and one short side rear..:booo:

If you let some air out of your tires you will have more traction.

Air pressure is not the problem, the Pitbulls sidewalls haven't broke in yet.

As for the shafts Larry, Yukon chromo's do not have a reputation for being the strongest on the market.

Sure there is a place for 300m shafts. To say that no one needs them is just dumb. :flipoff:

I told him that weeks ago. If someone gave me a set, I'd certainly take 'em, but I'd rather have Bobby's 60 Birfs. The costs are much more affordable than 300m shafts.

I would run Bob's birfs but he was concerned with the high speed heat issues.. I am running 35 chromo inners with spidertrax outers with spicer ujoints "that I have not broke" wow.. Really suprised me.. Anyways just eliminating the weak points one by one till 350horse and a heavy foot will not break anymore.. Don't worry I will calm the foot down in certain spots.. I just want to break what needs breaking now.. You guys said to get more seat time and talk less.. Thats what I am doing..:awesomework:

QUOTE FROM A LOCAL BOARD..

Yep, we want something that will keep up with him (not speed wise, I don't think anyone could) but ours will be more of a crawler not so much a racer, we like the slower side of things (with the power when you need it). Larry is so fun to watch 'cause it's all or nothing, he makes it pretty exciting ;) and is a lot of help for Bfinney when planning the build, good info and experience

Getting out in it--breaking it, fixing it...

Now you are learning young man

I guess I'm just dumb then.
Nobody NEEDS parts made of Unobtainium. The entire industry was wheelin' long before exotic parts were manufactured. Yeah, you'll break every now and then. But 35 splined, Dana 60, Chromo shafts are pretty darn durable, (except when you let Robin drive)

And yeah, I know there are better shafts out there. 40 splines. CVs. Whatever. But the idea that we *need* stuff just cause it's the latest and greatest is also dumb.

What Bobby's 60 birfs? FJ-60?

Bobby Long manufactured some Dana 60 CV joints. As I understand it, he's no longer selling them. However, the manufacturer who made them for Bob are selling them direct (or something like that). There are a couple of guys here who run those shafts in their D60, and they seem very quality components.

So you mean the RCV dana 60 CVs. I don't think Bobby Long ever manufactured them, but he definately sold them.

Bobby doesn't sell dana 60 CVs anymore. At least they aren't on his website.

you are correct...

bobby did not manufacture them. same company that does the 30spline toy birfs made the 60 version...

Bobby played a huge part in the reconstruction / redesign of these birfs for wheelin use. As i understand the birfs were first designed for baja 1000 type of racing.
