With the popularity of gay book allot of forums have suffered and mainly because people are lazy.

With that said unless I can find a cheaper server to host the forum I am going to close it down early next year. There is just not enough folks using it anymore to justify the money or time. I have never *****ed about paying for it and the donations have helped but when there is a handful of folks out there who use it nit worth it anymore,,,

This is terrible news! I do not have a FB and do not intend to start one. :finger: facebook.
It's sad to think about all the history, tech and great builds that will be lost when all the forums are gone. Ive learned at least %80 of what I know from Nwwheelers, pirate4x4 and Marlin's forum.

Hope you find a cheaper solution. I'll miss this resource / play area. I still check NWW before I check Book of Faces. Albeit, I too have noticed very little activity as of late.

I hear you Mike. There is just so much "white noise" with regards to where to spend your time and deposit your information. I still believe that forum based places like this, Pirate, Snort, Binder Bulletin, etc. are the best places for threaded and searchable discussions.

Unfortunately, the past two generations of users have not been brought up in that example set. So they only know the unorganized way of thinking that Social Media gives them.

Best of luck in finding a new home.

I actually visit pretty much daily... although I don't post much...

I have found that I since my rig is still in pieces, there isn't much use for me to post.. haha

I have a few questions for ya Crash, I will send you a PM as for your requirements. I might be able to point you in a direction (maybe)

Facebook has killed a lot of the forums.

Advertisements have killed some of the others.

I know Pirate is huge, and I still rarely go there because of the pop-ups and advertisements.

Hope you can keep the NWW going!

I cruse this forum very often. I don't post because I don't know you fellas very well but I do enjoy reading the things other people post. It doesn't seem to be used much for wheeling though. I check to see if people are going wheeling thinking that I can meet up and follow some guys around the woods,( sounds creepy.) but it seems like most people don't wheel their rigs, or they don't advertise that they do. anyway, I like it and like to look at it, but haven't used it for much.

Yeah its understandable I try to post content to get people talking doesn't seem to work these days...

Pokey ran them off! :stirpot:

Well that sucks... I do cruz this place every day. I've learned a lot for this forum and will be sad to see it go. Crash I appreciate the time and money you have put in to here. And **** Facebook....

Shiz. Since Broncoii.org went down this is the only place left with my build threads.

What's the hosting costs?

I do agree though. The largest and most popular forums got bought out by corporate entities, and the smaller forum traffic has dropped off in the last decade. Hard for the little guy to keep it going.

Thanks for the input and the PM's that I still got sit down and read..

Back when we had a couple vendors the out of pocket cost's were easy to handle and there was a couple years that I pretty much broken even..

Even though I am on FB often I still prefer forums.

If the traffic was decent I would never question what I have spent to keep this place going because thats the whole reason I do this. Heck I even made a NWW FB page just to push folks this way (a place that only I can post so to again push folks here)....

I have not given up but I can only handle soo much.

i still visit daily most of the time, although i dont post **** because i dont have a wheeler anymore:( will be sad to see this place go,but its understandable.

Understandable. I closed mine down years ago when FB started getting big.

I have been on here for years and have only posted a few times.

Im grateful for all the information have I got through the years. Sometimes this is the only place I hear about stuff. I would hate to see it gone :(

Believe me I have been tossing this in my head for months and the idea alone was not a simple choice..

My life has evolved around this sport for many years and to this day after many years it still is strong and I have always considered this my home.

I currently pay over $300 a year and I have never ever complained about paying and I never will.. I still recall the day when I flipped the switch and changed the forum like what pirate did and remember the repercussions for doing so. I still regret doing so but I simply needed help and I refuse to beg for $$$ so it made sense to go that route.

Like I say the time factor is still quite a ways off but needed to bring this up.

I know that there is a private forum on here for wheeling stories, not sure how many know that but I think that should be public and you would draw more people in.
I requested you put me in a while back but never heard and figured you were busy.

I check the site every day. But I have seen this coming. Facebook has pretty much killed the forum. It sucks

A few times a week I check out this forum. I don't post much at all anymore on any of the forums I'm on. Thing is, I don't have a Facebook page either. To be completely honest (and I don't mean this in a derogatory way at all) but I feel like I grew out of the whole internet social media thing regardless of the format. It was cool when it was the new thing but anymore I'm just motivated to be a part of it.

I still wheel constantly. Three weekends camping and wheeling last month alone. My wheeling friends are kept in touch with text or calls, same as my family and non-wheeling friends. Elbe is the only fun place to wheel anymore so I know all the regulars there. Internet social media just doesn't fit with my real life anymore. So I lurk occasionally. The negatives far outweigh the positives when participating in SM. Just not worth it to me anymore.

NWW Forum

I'd throw in $50 to help to keep it going. Over the years, I have easily gotten a lot more than that in both information and entertainment. Thanks for creating it and hopefully you can find a way to keep it going.

I check in every day or two, and see what's new.
I'd pitch in to help out. I know there's the way to do it already, I just always forget about it.
I like forums for the for sale stuff.
Facebook has a lot of stuff on the parts pages, but people tend to be assholes and flakes on those pages, and I don't even care to deal with them most of the time.

For the record my lest resort is the close up and its the very last thing I wanna do...

Forum traffic is down, our (PNWJeep) forum is the same way. That being said $300 a year is EXPENSIVE for a site like this. I have a guy who can likely do what you need WAY cheaper, and if that doesn't work out I'm in for $50 to keep this up and going a bit.
