SOO I was chattin with granny today.

We were talking bout the war in Iraq and such. She is Very Christian. And so I had to ask her.

In the bible Exodus 20:2

It doesn't matter, just have to apologize with your last words and you are in, thats why 99.9% of christians are do as I say not as I do.

Ever hear of the Crusade's? You can believe in God and still want to kill. 14 years of catholic school and I still ain't right:redneck:

That's why there is a separation of church and state. Once you join, you leave it all behind as that becomes your job. If you don't kill, you could also be failing to protect your brother... double edged sword huh? :redneck:

Exodus 20.13 "You shall not murder"
Exodus 20.17 "You shall not covet..."

It's ok to kill. Just don't murder.

And with the lack of water in the Holy Lands, we've been killing for eons. Only now, it's oil.

I sure miss my grandma.

She was really cool.

There was this time... Hip & a few of us took "grandmas" snow wheelin'. We drank Rodda's plum brandy. Grandmas got drunk off plum brandy in the snow, around the fire....

Ahhhh, good times. :awesomework:

That has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DO TO WITH SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. READ that section.

The ammendment is to keep government OUT of religion, not keep religion OUT of government. Everyone bastardizes this and get's it backwards.

You never leave being a Christian behind. It's ahead of everything else.

That's simply not true.

There are some but Christians are not perfect, they're still people and every one of us sins.

Yeah, my grandma was a little, spunky woman of German dissent.

She had a major ****ed up stroke about 5 or 6 years ago, we totally didn't expect her to live, I gave orders not to put the feeding tube in & do not recussitate when she goes.

Then she kinda woke up one day. She wanted to eat. They said "no, you'll choke on it". I said feed her if that's what she wants. She wanted applesauce (of all things). They fed her applesauce. She didn't choke. She lived for a couple more years, feeding herself whatever she damn well pleased. Paralyzed on one side, but doing what she wanted.

Grandma liked bourbon. :D

Treeclimber is right, "to Kill" in that context was "to Murder" defending your home, family, or country is not murder, and yes, you will never find a perfect Christian, by definition they are people who follows after and adhere to the teachings of Christ, and being in church most of my life I can attest to the amount of hypocrites that come through the doors every Sunday, but I'd rather spend a few hours a week with a hypocrite than eternity. :awesomework:

Very well said JD. There is (had been) only one perfect person on Earth. We all sin and fail daily. From my perspective I couldnt imagine living a day without my faith in God.:awesomework:

Grandma's are WAY better than god ... for starters, they are real...

Keep thinking that way. The thing is, youre going to find out. Nobody gets out of this alive. When that time comes, youre going to wish you felt like I do. Ive been on deaths door, have you? When the time comes everyone wants to live. If you dont have something (read God) to hold onto when that time comes youre going to be a four year old little boy sobbing for his mother who will not be there to help you!:awesomework:

wow.. testy :corn:

Most MODERN versions of the Bible say murder. However all older versions say kill. In the original Hebrew text the word used in context would be kill because to kill is ambiguous. (ratsach) This word like a lot of early languages has many meanings. Depending on context. But most scholars agree the most likely use here would denote a "violent" act like in war as apposed to simply accidentally killing or killing for food.

There is debate about that becase God put animals unto the earth for us to use and obviously kill. So the translation was changed to say murder which would be specific to HUMANS and violence.

As to people who interpret or believe killing or murder is ok depending on the circumstance. I ask are Christians not supposed to "turn the other cheek"?

Still all this is splitting hairs....... It comes down to why would a Christian person want to seek out and join the military to go kill people?

Grandmas rock, mine is 80 and she just left after spending a month staying at my house for the holidays and my cousins wedding. She lives in Oregon.

I love talking with her. She is super smart and can speak about many topics very inteligently. Get this she litterally read two boxes about 30 books while here. Amazing !!! and no, none of them were trash novels.

Perhaps you should ask the Jews.
Unless you are willing to pick up arms in defence, you(and your family) might as well climb on board a train and be hauled off to a camp...and death.

The first amendment was intended to keep religion and government out of each other. Government is not allowed to in any way oppress any religious practice, or lack there of. The flip side of that coin is that religion is not allowed to impose laws that restrict any American's freedom based purely on any given religion's moral code.

Show me where it says that.

First, religion cannot impose laws so it's obviously not a quote but rather a paraphrase or an interpretation. I've read it a number of times, and unless it's recently been ammended again, it doesn't say what you said above.

Explain why the oath that Obama just took always has and still does include God in the verbage if God was not allowed in government.
