there any way you can test with a meter or possible a local shop south that test hei dist to see if there any good got a new motor and the guy thru a hei dist in but said he was not sure if it was good been sitting for a while would like to know before i put the motor in kinda a pain to pull back out once it in there

Just hook hot wire to dist. cap and ground wire to body of dist. and spin it. If its good you will hear it fire.
